Her golden brown hair hangs loosely around her shoulders while staring out the window with a sullen expression.
She leans back against the wall and pulls her legs up to her chest before resting her chin on her knees.
A small smile takes over her face as she watches the rain pour down from the sky. The memory of how her and her father used to be so close wipes the smile clean off her face and is replaced with a frown.
'Why do people have to let pain consume them?', She thinks while glancing up at the sky and feeling her heart clench.
In one swift movement, she closes her curtains, steps off her bay window and climbs under the cool covers of her bed.
Snuggling deeper into the sheets, desperately trying to create warmth, she closes her eyes as a single tear slides down her rosy cheek.
Determination seeps through her as she tries to fall asleep and escape all the worries of reality.
At least when you sleep, you can dream and when you dream, you can make it as amazing as you would like it to be.
