From weakness Lindsey had fallen to sleep inside the safety of the mountain's crevice, he was just too shook up over everything that he had experienced; Stevie almost fell to her death, a giant gorilla was taking her hostage, and he was suffering a great amount of injury. He woke up with a gasp and still believing that Kong's hand was reaching for him then his eyes filled with tears as he cried, cried for how he'd failed his rescue mission.

The second he moved was when he knew his body was in worse shape than he thought, every muscle tight and sore as if he'd just lifted weights for hours straight, his hands cut up from climbing the vines, and his feet swollen with blisters. Lindsey could only take pride in the fact that most men his age wouldn't have even made it this far but he wasn't sure how much more he could take, this was going to be the last attempt on Stevie's rescue before giving up physically and mentally.

Lindsey closed his eyes and imagined her face, imagined Stevie's smile as he lay against her naked body, running his fingers through her hair and kissing her lips. There was so much that he loved about her and that love gave him a second wind, pushing the depressing thoughts out of his mind as he tore part of his shirt to wrap around his bleeding hands. He jumped on to the vines dangling against the mountain and fought the pain and the agony his body poscessed, the sun hot and torturous upon his skin, the top of the mountain growing closer as his hand slammed down to attempt hoisting himself up and over.

"Stevie!" he cried out while his whole body shook, finally rolling over the edge to safety. His chest heaved and his vision was blurry but he had made it once more, turning on his side to take in his surroundings, the smell of Kong ripe and strong.

"LINDSEY, GO!" Stevie screamed from the cave as Kong came running in his direction, her voice raw and deep.

He dodged Kong's fist that caused him to fall over the edge of the mountain, slamming against it as he was luckily able to snag a handul of vines.

Stevie dragged herself from the cave and Kong took notice of her cry, his breathing slowing and facial expression changing as she begged for his mercy. "No, please!" holding up one of her hands as Kong picked her up in one of his; she touched the side of his face and did her best to reason with the large primate. "I love him," shaking and crying.

To Lindsey's surprise he suddenly was pulled up the mountainside by Kong and Stevie was set down on her feet, Kong disappearing in a flash.

"Lindsey," sobbed Stevie while coming to his need, caressing his face and kissing his lips.

"Stevie..." he could barely speak or make her out but knew it was her, reaching up to touch her hair that dangled against his face.

"I don't think there's going to be any way I'm going to get out of here, you're going to have to leave with out me," said Stevie.

His eyes overflowed with tears at the sentiment and shook his head, "...no."

"You're going to die out here and I won't be responsible."

"How could you say that? How could you ever?" Lindsey questioned her angrily.

"He'll never let me go."

"That's why you escape with me."

"How? How can I escape with you? I can't make it down that mountain and don't you believe that I can!"

"Baby, please," he cried, "...I will not leave then and I will stay."

Stevie tried to shadow his eyes from the sun but it was even too hot for her, taking him by the arms and dragging him to the shade of the cave. He was so weak that his eyes could barely stay open and she spooned against his body, running the back of her fingers across his arm until he fell asleep.

Hours later as the sun began to die down Stevie woke with out Lindsey in her arms, the panic rising then falling as she found him sitting on the edge of the mountaintop, her slowly making way towards him.

"Did you mean it?" asked Stevie while sitting besides him.

Lindsey turned his head to look at her. "Every word."

She cried and laid her head against his shoulder not believing that he'd meant his marriage proposal.

"It should have dawned on me sooner - not that it hadn't but losing you like this and not believing if you'd come back alive, it proved to me that not being with you is a mistake."

"Not being with you is my biggest regret," expressed Stevie with her arms around him.

Looking down at his left hand is when he took off his ring to stare at it, taking a moment before tossing it over the edge of the mountain to the roaring river below.

"Why did you do that?" asked Stevie as she sat up straight.

"Because it's the biggest lie I've ever played."

As Stevie was going in to kiss him is when they heard the sounds of a plane engine, both of them looking up in to the sky as several combat planes were headed in their direction. Lindsey stood up and lifted his arms up in to the air to gather their attention, Stevie also joining him as they screamed up in to the sky.

"HELP! HELP! WE'RE HERE!" doing their best to signal down a jet, hugging each other as it was apparent they'd been seen.

Kong was nearby at the other side of the mountain when he spotted the ruckus  above, looking up in to to the sky and standing up on two feet, punching his chest and letting out a roar. He ran and jumped to the top of the cave then landed on all fours in front of Stevie and Lindsey; it took them both by surprise and then the shots began to fire.

"NO!"  Stevie screamed as Lindsey held her back, Kong turning to face the jets as he once more let out a defiant roar. "Lindsey they'll kill him!"

"You can't do anything about it!" he took her by the shoulders. "It has to be this way!"

Stevie did not agree and she ran from him then between Kong's legs as he picked her up then put her inside the cave, Lindsey once more holding her back as she struggled. "Lindsey, please!"

The more Lindsey witnessed what was going on it concerned him, realizing that whoever was flying those planes did not have their best interests at hand, sensing that they were here for Kong.

"Do you trust me?" Lindsey took Stevie by the face to take her focus off Kong.

"What?! What do you mean, of course!"

He took her by the hand and just as a bomb filled with tranquilizer hit the mountaintop, Lindsey grabbed Stevie around the waist as they fell to the river below.
