                                                                                  Kagome's P.O.V.

"My partner?" I tilted my head and looked to the empty seat next to me. "Who would that be?"

"You don't know him yet, but  I guess it won't hurt to tell you his name... Since you'll be sitting next to him..." Sango looked away, rubbing the back of her head and giggling nervously. I narrowed my eyes at her. "Tell me!" I demanded, both my hands placed on my hips.

"Okay, okay... Calm down, Kagome..."

"Not until you tell me!"

"...It's Inuyasha." Sango whispered.  "He's a little....Uh, how to put it-"

"I know him, actually." I said, matter of factly. Sango's eyes widen and her jaw dropped. "How do you know him?!"

"I sat next to him on the bus this morning. He seemed like a shy, but nice guy. Misunderstood." Sango looked at me with a questioning expression. "Did you talk to him? What did you say to him? What did he say?" I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly. "Nothing special, really. We didn't talk for more than 5 minutes or so, anyway..." I looked downward toward the floor to hide my blush that was now spreading across my face rapidly.

"So..." Sango continued, "did he mention Kikyou?" I shook my head no. "He didn't say a word about her, but I ran into her on my way to the teacher's lounge," I whispered and almost hoping she wouldn't hear me. Her eyes were wide open when I looked back up at her.

"Did she talk to you at all?"

"She told me that she was his- girlfriend... She even said to keep away from him for that exact reason."

"Really, Kagome?" Sango questioned and tilted her head. "I heard that they split up. But if she told you that, then I guess it was just a rumor. Those kinds of rumors spread quickly around here."

Inuyasha's P.O.V

My ears perked up as I heard Sango's voice and laid eyes on the back of Kagome's head. Recalling the glare she'd sent my way only a few hours later, I felt a shiver down my spine. But I quickly shook it off, along with the memory of the ticked off new girl. Crossing my arms as I entered the classroom. I walked toward the girls and the empty seat and sat down. My hands resting behind my head.

"Where have you been?" I heard Sango's voice behind me. "Mrs. Kaede seemed pretty upset because you didn't show up to class."

"Listen, you," I began as my knuckles popped. I growled and turned my head toward Sango. "If you think that's any of your business why I wasn't here right away, you're damn wrong!"

I noticed Kagome gawking at me, as my cheeks burned. Damn it! Blushing in front of a girl I haven't known for more than 5 minutes! I thought for sure she was gonna lecture me not to talk to her new friend that way. Instead, and I gotta admit, it surprised me, she reached for my ears and rubbed them. That's a first. I growled softly at her. "What the heck are you doing?"

"They're so soft! Fluffy!" Kagome squealed and kept tweaking at them.

"Leave my ears alone, Kagome!"

"I'm surprised you already called me by my first name."

                                                                                         Narrator's P.O.V.

After a few weeks of school, Kagome had made at least 3 new friends. Sango, Kouga and Ayame. Although she did secretly consider Inuyasha her friend, she was anxious to see him with Kikyou. She hasn't quite made up her mind if the rumor Sango had told her, was true or not. But so far, she'd only seen Kikyou at school once during the last month.

One day, someone had come to visit the Higurashi family at their new house. "Kagome, could you go get the door, please?" her mom had called. "Just a sec, Mom!" She sighed and walked to the front door, not knowing quite what to expect, but she didn't really give it too much thought.

It's probably just the neighbors or something... Why couldn't Mom have-

Her thoughts were cut off when she opened the door and saw....

"Inuyasha?!" Kagome gasped. "Wh-what are you- How did you even know where I live?!"

He shrugged his shoulders and chuckled. "I have a strong nose, and a keen sense of smell. Like a dog, see? And as for why I'm here-" Inuyasha blushed and looked away from her, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "I uh.... S-sorta wanted to um..." Kagome rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

Who knew such a nice girl could be so...scary?

"Do ya have to look at me like that?!" Inuyasha spat and crossed his arms.

Damn! Why'd I say that?! Now she's really gonna be mad!

Kagome sighed. "What did you want to talk to me about?"

He turned his face to look at her again. "I wanted to apologize, okay?!" Inuyasha huffed and turned his back and started to walk away from her house.

"Wait! Inuyasha?" Kagome's voice called out as she stood in the doorway. Inuyasha turned back toward her again. "What is it?"

"Why don't you come inside for a minute?"

Little did they know that someone was watching them at that very moment... Someone whose only goal was to ruin their relationship....
