The next morning, I woke up with something hard and warm wrapped around my waist. I turned around and looked up at Eric. His hair was slightly covering his eyes, so I pushed the stray strands back. I slowly removed his arm from my waist and got up. I walked toward the window and looked out at the mocking jays singing in the trees. I thought about what Eric told me last night. I still didn't understand what a seeker was, but by the way that Eric spoke about it, it must be important.

"Good morning, Lenna." Eric said. Still with my back facing him I said, "Good morning, Eric." I heard him get up and walk towards me. He slung one of his arms around my shoulder and the other around my waist in a protective stance.

"Did you think about what we spoke about last night?" he asked. I nodded. "And..." he encouraged. "And I'm going to do whatever it takes to complete the prophecy you told me about." I replied. He chuckled a bit and said, "You don't have a choice either way. It's a prophecy. Fate will make it be completed." I did not know that, I thought. I had a feeling that it was going to be a long time until the prophecy was completed.
