3rd Person POV

Flashback! 1 year earlier!

Rothwell Private Academy  Boarding School. On-Campus Café. Friday, September 23. 11:50am

"Don't get me wrong, I think she's an awesome spotter but if she gains any more weight she's not going to fit in her uniform." Cecily rants to a less than interested Massie Copeland who only seems to nod in acknowledgement before lazily leaning further into Daxon's lap. Daxon fought to keep himself in the conversations around him trying to zone out Cecily, who admittedly gave him a headache.

Usually his lunch period consisted of him sitting with the guys on the soccer team or going to the Hideout with T.J and Jeff. However, since the Parents Ball was coming up Massie had insisted they all sit together at her table to discuss it. Her table usually consisted of Alaina Peterson and Bridgette Mathers, the residing senior girls court but today it was crammed with not only them but most of the junior court as well. Trying to fit everyone around the small table was challenging and somewhat entertaining. Their crowed lunch table made their classmates look over at them in envy and adoration. Some even walked slowly by, trying to get in on the latest gossip among the court.

Shelby Marcs had wedged herself between Bridgette and Jeff. The three of them weren't discussing the Ball at all but instead gossiped about some freshman girl that hooked up with a senior at St. Anthony's Prep. T.J sat on the other side of Jeff with Alaina Peterson hanging off his shoulder, brushing her hands through his dirty blonde hair. Daxon assumed she was his latest conquest but T.J had not yet confirmed so he couldn't be sure. It was almost embarrassing for her as she continued to pet T.J like a prestigious show cat with him barely acknowledging her.  Instead  he practically shouted over everyone as him and Graham Harrington argued over which baseball team would win the World Series.

The residing King of the court talked animatedly to his protégé with one hand secured on the leg of Ava St. Xavier. Daxon noticed he hadn't moved it since he sat down, almost as if he was worried she'd run away if he did. As he looked at Ava, her hazel eyes lamely looking around the café taking in everyone around her. She hadn't said much the whole duration of the lunch period which struck Daxon as odd. Ava was rarely quiet.

As if she sensed him staring she looked over at him. At first, she simply starred back, almost like they were in a high stake starring contest. After neither of them looked away she sent a scowl in his direction and turned her attention back to her boyfriend. Noticing she finally took an interest in him, he moved his hand and draped his arm over her shoulder pulling her closer. Daxon scoffed at her antics making Massie stop talking to Cecily and give him a look.

"Like I was saying I think the Parents Ball is going to be epic. Especially since Ava picked the coolest venue ever!" Massie continued, the last part of her sentence louder so everyone at the table could hear her.

"Babe you didn't tell me you booked the venue?" Graham nudged Ava's shoulder and Daxon gagged.

Babe????

"It wasn't a big deal. I just made some calls and now the Balls being held on a yacht." Ava explains to the group, everyone watching her with pleasant smiles on their faces except for Daxon.

"I SO made the right choice on my successor as Head of the Event Committee next year." Massie gushes pulling out her hand to grab hold of Ava's.

Ava laughs it off modestly and then the table seems to go back into the same frazzled state it was in before. Except this time Ava scoots her chair away from Graham and sits closer to Massie with the two of them discussing the music selection for the Ball.
