miles

we get back in my car with the bag of items, starting the car. "where is this place again?" charlie asks, not knowing the area.

i didn't go too much into detail, not wanting to spoil the fun of the night. "two blocks from yours." charlie nods, combing her hair back into a pony tail. "want something to drink? starbucks is around the corner."

the girl's eyes light up, nodding quickly. "of course, have you even met me?" charlie chuckles, reaching for her wallet in the small pocket of her hoodie.

i pull into the drive-thru, asking what she'd like to drink and pulling my money out as well. "put yours back, char, it's on me."

"i can pay."

"i have money, miles."

"i want to pay for our drinks, okay?" i say to the girl, hoping she wouldn't be so stubborn about the situation. not replying, she hands me a ten dollar bill.

i sigh out, shaking my head before ordering the drinks and handing over my own cash, taking note on the girl's actions.

she subconsiously scrolls through twitter. my eyes glance at some of what she was looking at; the hashtag of our name.

charlie places her phone in her lap, taking the drink as i pass it to her, along with the bill she handed me. a smirk dancing on my lips.

"miles-" she groans, shaking her head and looking to me. i take note on her furrowed eyebrows, pouted lip. "i wanted to pay."

"oh, really?" i ask in a sarcastic-fake tone. it was my idea to ge drinks, she'll understand. "didn't know. too bad i already paid, huh?"

charlie takes a swig of her cold coffee, smiling to herself. "you are something, miles." i laugh, taking the time to look away.

"let's go back to your place. we can wait there for awhile."

pulling out my camera to 'update' the film, i rest it on the dash. "okay, so we got a little starbies before we film tonight. a little bit of caffine keeps the demons away."

i look to charlie for words, only for her to turn the radio up and shuffle around as dance movements.

"if you saw me dancing like that up in the club, would you buy me a drink?" the girl chuckles to me, moving more to the beat.

"god, no. drinks probably made you dance in the first place." i laugh at her as charlie gasps, slightly shrugging.

"what time are we leaving?" i look at the girl next to me as she plays with my hair. the feeling made me drop my head back, hitting the couch.

"probably about 12? whenever it gets dark, i hope." charlie nods, placing her head on the couch as well. "what do you want to do until then?" my voice spoke softly and quietly.

"netflix and a pizza? i need to edit the video we made this morning." the way she spoke was in a hushed tone, making my mind feel calmer.
