Chapter 3

Sabrina

I had rushed to class after the Today show and then I had rushed home to get on the computer and find out everything about One Direction, Zayn Malik in particular. I was right and he was the same boy that I knew. Now I was one of hundreds of thousands of other girls who had a crush on him.

That night I thought about the few encounters Zayn and I had had in high school. I remember in 9th grade we were in the same math class I used to stare at him but he probably didn’t even notice. We had mutual friends and we did talk and hang out a couple of times but we never were really close. I was really unhappy to move and remember Zayn was with my friend Josh when I had told him I’m moving. Zayn had told me he would miss me like everyone else but he didn’t seem to care. I decided to get to sleep because I had an early class in the morning and then the 1D signing with Lily in the afternoon.

After class I went straight home to get dressed to go to the signing. Lily and our other friend and roommate Mina were in the kitchen talking. “Hey guys, whats up?” I asked.

“I was just telling Lily about the BioChem test I have to study for,” Mina said.

“Ugh sounds horrible, that’s why I am not a pre-med student,” I replied

“Yes its very horrible, now I will go into my cave, see you guys I don’t know when,” Mina said as she carried an apple, banana, and a huge bottle of water into her room.  

“I rarely see here these days,” I told Lily as I sat on the stool next to her.

“Same here. You ready for the signing?” Lily asked

“No let me change,” I said and walked to my room.

“Why are you all dressed up? I thought you didn’t like 1D,” Lily teased me as we walked to J&R where the signing was being held.

“I am not dressed up this is how I dress every day,” I replied as I blushed I was really grateful for my tan complexion which hid the fact that my cheeks were red.

“Whatever you say,” Lily said as we walked into the crowded store.

We had been waiting on line for awhile when the boys finally arrived. Security guards were everywhere. I tried to see the boys but it was hard to make them out over the heads of all the girls. I thought about what I should say when I saw Zayn. Should I say remember me, or pretend not to know him.

After nearly an hour we were at the head of the line. The security guard took Lily’s CD and then mine. They told us to move fast and that we couldn’t take pictures. We were approaching the table. Harry was first and Zayn was last. I smiled at Harry as he signed my CD and asked me “How are you, babe?”

“Fine, how are you?” I said as my heartbeat quickened and I continued to think about what I would say to Zayn. Lily hugged Louis and Niall who then smiled at me as they signed my CD. I smiled back and thanked them for signing my CD. Liam gave me a high five and then passed my CD onto Zayn. My heart was beating really fast and my palms were sweaty as I walked to stand in front of Zayn. He was looking down signing the CD and then finally looked up when he was done and said “Hey lo-.”

 I took a deep breath her goes nothing I thought as I smiled and said “Hey Zayn, Its me Sabrina.”
