Chapter 20

Caite

I had a date with Rob tonight. We were going to see a movie and then get dinner. I got dressed in a knee length halter dress in light blue. It had delicate flower designs around the neck. I used a belt to cinch in the waist and put on wedge sandals. I straightened my hair left it out. I grabbed a clutch and put in my phone and lip gloss. I looked at the time it was 7 and Rob should be here soon if we were going to make it in time to see the movie. I decided to wait outside for him and sat on the porch step and texted Niall while I waited. Niall was funny and really easy to talk to. I talked to him about everything and anything and I found myself constantly texting him. I heard a car honk and saw Rob’s black car waiting by the curb. I got up and walked to the car and got into the passenger seat. Rob leaned in smashed his lips into mine. After he pulled away I buckled my seatbelt and smiled at Rob as he began driving towards the theatre. He smiled back at me and said “what movie are we seeing?”

“I don’t know when we get there we can check,” I replied

“Ok,” Rob replied continuing to drive. We arrived at the theatre and Rob parked the car and we walked into the theatre. Rob put his arms around me as we looked at the list of movies playing.

“I actually want to see The Lorax, 21 Jump Street, or The Hunger Games,” I said looking at Rob.

“What about 21 Jump Street?” Rob asked.

“Ok,” we got the tickets and popcorn and went into see the movie. After the movie we decided to go to the diner nearby for dinner. The diner, where I met Niall. We walked into the diner and I saw that there were other people from school including friends/teammates of Rob’s. I hope he wasn’t planning on sitting with them. This was supposed to be a date. Rob started walking towards their table and I said “Rob shouldn’t we sit alone since this is supposed to be a date.”

Rob looked perplexed for a second and then said “Sure whatever you want.” We sat down at table away from the boys and ordered food. Rob and I talked about school and other things but we kept having awkward pauses and he didn’t really seem interested in talking to me.

After we ate we got up to leave and Rob said, “Could you wait a couple of minutes?” I nodded as he gave me a quick kiss and went to the table where his teammates were sitting.

This will probably take awhile I thought as I went outside. I stood in front of the diner and looked at the night sky. “Hey Caite,” someone said.

I turned to see Niall next to me, “What are you doing here? Are you lost?” I asked as a huge smile appeared on my face.

“No, I actually came here to get some dinner,” he replied “you look beautiful,” he added.

“Thanks, I try,” I said laughing and that’s when I realized Rob hadn’t told me I looked beautiful. I was thinking about our date and how Rob had been treating me. I looked at the sky again trying to stop the tears that wanted to come out.
