a few weeks later.
things were going great at the moment. me and johnny were getting on great, amy and mike were being wonderful parents and layla was just amazing, as always.

i was in the kitchen doing the washing up, when the doorbell rung.
"johnny, get the door will you?" i called out to him.
"i'm on it." he said. i heard the door opening and some talking and the door closing again.

johnny walked into the kitchen.
"moz is here, to see layla." he said with a sigh as he sat down.
i turned round and smiled at him.
"hi morrissey. she's upstairs, i'll go get her." i said, walking out of the room and upstairs.

i picked layla up out of her cot and walked out of the room and slowly down the stairs, just in case she came flying out of my hands.
i could hear morrissey and johnny talking.

"moz, i just think you should back off with layla a little, cause i don't think you should be involved." i heard him say.
i walked into the kitchen, still holding layla and i smiled at morrissey.
"do you want to hold her?" i asked him.
he smiled and nodded, holding his hands out.

i placed her into his hands and he looked so unbelievably happy.
the radio was still on, the song playing was bizarre love triangle by new order. i sighed.

"look, just give me layla would you moz?" johnny said to morrissey.
morrissey sighed and handed layla to him.
"look, i think i should be leaving." morrissey said to us.
"alright, bye." johnny said to him.
"i'll see you soon morrissey. feel free to pop round anytime you like, okay?" i told him. he smiled and walked off and i closed the door.

i walked back into the kitchen and sat down opposite johnny.
"layla is morrissey's kid johnny. he can see her whenever he wants okay?" i told him.
"he's interfering with my family! i need him to back the fuck off!" johnny half shouted at me.
"don't shout at me! it's not my fucking fault!" i yelled back.
"oh no? it's not your fault that you managed to accidentally throw yourself on to his dick? that's not your fault?" he shouted at me.
"that's it. i'm leaving." i screamed at him.
"go right ahead! but where are you gonna stay?" he shouted.
"somewhere!" i yelled, grabbing layla and running upstairs and grabbing a bag and frantically throwing things into it.

i ran down the stairs, still tightly holding layla and i walked up to the front door and sighed.
i opened the door and slammed it behind me. i got into the car and i saw johnny walk out of the door.
"evelyn come on. please, we've gotta talk about this, please." he pleaded.
i sighed and drove off.

i didn't know where to go. i mean, my parents live in london, i don't wanna intrude on amy and mike and robert and mary are away for the week.
there was only one place to go and i really didn't wanna go there.

i sighed and drove to morrissey's house.
i got out of the car and got layla out too, grabbing my bag as well. i walked up to his door and sighed, knocking on it loudly. dear god, i hoped he was in.

the door opened, thank god and there stood a confused looking morrissey.
"i'll explain in a minute. just let me get inside and let me sit down and have some tea." i said.
he laughed slightly and stepped aside so i could walk in.

i walked in and placed my bag on the floor and walked into the kitchen.
i sat layla down on the table and he walked over to the kettle, turning it on so the water could boil.

once the water was boiled and the tea was made was when i started to cry.
i cried over everything. over my marriage, over layla, over mine and johnny's arguments, over the smiths, over everything really. morrissey got up and held me. he held me for quite a while and i smiled and cried some more.

an hour later
after i'd calmed down, me and morrissey were sitting on the sofa.
"should i put a record on?" i asked.
"go ahead." he said with a smile.
i got up and walked over to the records and sighed.
"you've got shit records, you do realise that?" i said with a laugh.
he laughed. "oh shut up. i've still got some of yours, hold on they're upstairs i'll go get them." he said, getting up and walking upstairs.

he returned with a pile of records and handed them to me. i looked at them and smiled.
i flicked through them until i found the perfect one. i placed it on the turntable and put the needle on it.
let's stay together by al green started to play.
"fancy a dance?" i asked morrissey with a laugh.
"sure." he smiled.
he walked over to me and we started to dance.
i started to sing along to the song.
"i'm so in love with you..cause you make me feel so brand newww." i sung, my eyes closed.

"evelyn." morrissey said to me.
i opened my eyes and smiled at him.
"what is it?" i asked.
"i still love you." he said to me.
"where the times are good and happy and sad." al green sung
i leaned in. this felt right. he leaned in too and our lips collided.
"let's stay togetheeerrr." al green continued to sing.
"i love you evelyn." he said to me.
