*QUICK DISCLAIMER: I DON'T LIVE IN CALIFORNIA, I LIVE IN MICHIGAN SO ALL OF THE RESTAURANTS IN THIS CHAPTER ARE MADE UP BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY'RE ACTUALLY IN CALI LMAO*
YOUR POV
The tour had ended about a week ago and you were now living with Devin. His house was big and nice as he lived in California after all. The air conditioner was on full blast and somehow you were still dying from the heat. You laid sprawled out on the couch your shorts sticking to you from the heat. You couldn't help but wonder if you had made a mistake coming here. Maybe it would have been better for you to move back to Michigan and live on your own. You couldn't help but miss your friends and family and although you will never admit it, the smallest part of you missed Kyle.
Things had been going well with you and Devin, most days you stayed at home cuddling on the couch. It was almost like a routine; you'd wake up and take a shower. Change into clean clothes then sit on the couch for the rest of the day until Devin came down and sat with you. But today was different, today as you laced up your teal vans you had decided that you were going to go on a walk and explore the town. Putting your headphones you walked the ten minutes that it took you to get there. The boardwalk was filled people all of different size and shape. Couples walked past you hand in and hand and you couldn't help but think of Devin.
You kept walking, your left the ocean sat. The blue and white waves crashed against the shore slashing people in the process. You smiled as you watched two small children splash around in the water and chasing each other with their parents watching on.
To your right cars quickly passed you in an attempt to get to their desired destination. As you walked you passed various shops that sold different items. You saw an ice cream shop that was across the street and your mouth watered. You decided to get some and waited until it was safe for you to cross. Upon opening the door your nose was hit with the many different scents of the shop. You walked up to counter and ordered a waffle cone with two scoops of strawberry cheesecake ice cream. You paid for your delicious frozen treat and continued along with your walk.
You spent a good two hours before you got a text from Devin reading: "do you want to meet me on the boardwalk and we can dinner and take a walk on the beach?" a part of you wished it was Kyle who had texted you but it wasn't. You texted him back saying yes and made your way back to the water. Upon arriving you saw him standing there admiring the waves. You walked up next to him and he smiled as he looked over at you. "Hey babe" he said as he kissed you. Pulling away, you smiled and looked over to see the sunset.
"So where do you want to go?" he asked taking your hand. The sky started to get dark as night began to fall the lights of the shops lit up the town. "I'm not sure. I've never been down here so I don't know where to eat" you said. He nodded his head and began to walk towards the city. He stopped a cute little polish restaurant and looked over at you, "how about polish food?" he asked. You peered into the restaurant and nodded. "yeah lets go there" you said, Devin opened the door for you and you both walked in. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the dimly lit dining room gave off a romantic vibe. A hostess came up top you both smiling, "cześć, table for two?" she asked in a thick polish accent.
Devin nodded and she led you both too your table. She asked what you wanted to drink if anything. 'I'll just have coke" you replied, she nodded writing it down. "And for you?" she looked at Devin, "I'll have the same as her" he said motioning to you. She tucked her note pad away then went off to fulfill your orders.
You both looked down at the menu, flipping through the few laminated sheets. She came back and you order potato pancakes and Devin ordered pierogi. You spent about an hour in the restaurant before paying and leaving. You continued to walk down the boardwalk until you reached the end. There was a kind of carnival going on. Food and treats of different scents hid your nose. Lights lit up the night, people of all ages laughing and having fun with their friends and family . You walked past all the games and prizes, "oh my god!! Look at how cute that stuff dog is" you gushed over the massive prize. Walking up to the booth, the man smiled at you "welcome, would you like to play?" he asked flashing his yellow teeth at you both. You looked at Devin who nodded, pulling out a few singles he handed them to the man who took them, stuffing them into his pocket. He handed you and Devin three balls each, "if you knock over three cans you get to pick any prize in the booth. Good luck" he said. He step back and watched at you threw your first ball, amazed that you had knocked over the top can. Devin hadn't taken anytime to try and actually hit the cans, which ended up in none of his being knocked over. You threw your second ball and sure enough you hit the second can, the same went for the third one. You cheered in victory as the man handed you the stuffed dog, hugging it to your chest you walked away with your new prize.
You both continued to play various games until it was about midnight, the carnival started to shut down meaning it was time to go back home. "What a day" you said as Devin opened up the front door allowing you to slip past him. Devin went upstairs probably to shower and go to bed. Most of the day he was out doing errands or that was what he told you at least. You plopped down on the couch and pulled out your phone, scrolling through one caught your eye. It was a text message from Kyle... it read: please, please come back. I need to see you... you took a deep breath, this could end your relationship with Devin. You sat there thinking for a moment before typing a response, "okay"
Hi everyone... I hope you're not all going to kill me... so anyways can you tell that I'm polish by the restaurant and food I picked lol. I speak a little bit on it as you can see in the middle of the chapter. My grandma aunt and I are going to Hamtramck, a polish town in Michigan and we're going to get potato pancakes and pierogi yummm. Okay well I'll see you all in the next one:)
