King's Row
Why would they do this? Why would they want to kill Mondatta? The omnic who spent his entire creation bridging peace between the human and the robotic omnic race. He does not deserve this.
Those were the thoughts of Tracer as she slammed Widowmaker's partner onto the ground, pinning his arm away from his assault rifle's reach.
"Who are you working for?" Tracer yelled as she climbed on top of the man. Anger bursting inside her.
"Lena?" the man asked, not even trying to break free.
"Jack?" Tracer looked at the man for the first time.
"You're alive."
"You're alive?" Tracer blinked. She stared up and beamed at the gorilla in front of her. "Winston!"
"Uhh," Winston stuttered. His eyes darted to Tracer. "Long story?"
The sound of a chopper blade hovered above them, attracted their attention. Inside was a scowling Widowmaker as she took aim at the middle of the crowd.
"She is going after Mondatta," Tracer informed. She looked over at the confused Jack. "How's your aim fake Jack?"
"I am not fake," the imposter said. She did not know his deal but if he was with Winston then he must be a good guy.
"Good enough for me." Tracer reached for the Pulse Bomb attached to her back and tossed it towards the helicopter. "BOMBS AWAY!"
As if instinctively, the soldier yanked his rifle from the ground and shot the Pulse Bomb. The explosion blinded Widowmaker's aim with a ball of inferno. Heat spew on them and as the flames subsided, Widowmaker and the chopper had vanished. Tracer ran to the edge of the building, looking down at Mondatta - still alive and healthy.
The omnic leader was escorted to safety by his guards. Tracer smiled to herself for the successful rescue when a migraine hit her head. For a split second, images of a dead Mondatta sprawling on the floor and the blue-skinned Widowmaker mocking her, flashed into her mind.
"You okay?" Winston asked as he gripped Tracer back into reality.
Tracer paused for a second, digesting the images "Woah! Major déjà vu. I had a weird flashback of Mondatta being dead. Anybody else felt that?"
Winston looked over to the "fake" Jack who then look back at him. Winston then turned to Tracer. "That's the long story I need to talk about."
On the jet on the way back to Gibraltar, Winston and Jack explained Jack's mission here. Tracer did not see the doom and gloom of the situation and was more excited to see Jack again. She wanted to blurt out her adventure and catch up on what happened since the Jack's death in Switzerland but more than twice Winston had to shush Tracer from revealing too much about the future.
"Is that why I had that funny vision thing? Was Mondatta meant to be dead?"
"Possibly," Winston said while piloting. "It is possible that our arrival at King's Row had caused a change in the future and Tracer being a time traveler herself, was the only one that could have felt the time disturbance. Either way, this is not good."
"Why?" Tracer casually leaned back. "We saved a great omnic that's supposed to be dead. I think that was pretty cool."
"The point is that we are changing the timeline," Winston grumbled. "Who knows how would that play into our future? It is best we send Jack and younger Tracer back as soon as we can."
Tracer turned to Jack. "Well, I'm sorry that you came all the way here but I really don't remember anything about jumping into the future. The only thing I recall is feeling cold, blue and seeing blurry images."
