Dylan's P.O.V
I was finally meeting Megan's parents. This was what I wanted right? So why was I nervous? I could barely feel my hands as I buttoned up my shirt. Megan tried to make me feel better, but my stomach was in knots. I didn't know how to tell her parents I had held their daughter a gun point or that I was a drug dealer or in a gang or doing under ground fights.
The fights. I rubbed some cream over my eye to cover the black and purple. I made sure my sleeves covered the mark where the guy had cut me and I tried to walk straight when I was secretly in pain. This couldn't go well. I got into my car just as Megan called.
"Hey baby." She said as cheerfully as she could.
"Hey."
"You okay?"
"Nervous. I've never met parents before."
"You're a great guy, you have nothing to be worried about."
"Except the fact your mom thinks I'm a criminal."
There was a pause.
"Yeah, but I love you and that's all that matters."
"I guess so, I love you too."
"See you in a bit."
"Yeah, bye." I hung up the phone and pulled in front of her house. This was nice. It had to be at least three stories. Megan never told me she had money.
I paused at the door and thought about what I would say. What could I say? If they asked about the robbery how could I say I was innocent? They would call Megan a liar and mess up everything. Should I even go?
I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. I stood for a few seconds and Megan opened the door.
"Hey." I released the breath I had been holding.
"You're adorable when you're nervous." She smiled.
"Making fun of me now?"
"Don't be nervous, they sense fear." I laughed and Megan dragged me into the house. She grabbed my right arm and I winced in pain. She seemed to notice.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Positive babe." I reassured with a smile. I took another deep breath and mentally prepared myself for this. My insides felt as if they might turn on me. I was began to see double and my legs were wobbly.
"I don't think I can do this."
"You can get high, shoot someone, and rob a bank, but you can't meet the parents?"
"Exactly, can I go?"
"No, you didn't come this far for nothing. It will be fine."
"If you say so, I'm holding you to your words."
"Okay then."
Megan gripped my hand and led me into the dining hall. I looked up and everybody froze.
