I felt my eyes being burned by the bright white light in front of me.
“She’s waking up.” I heard a voice whisper.
“We need to try these syringes on her.”
Syringes? I thought. What syringes?
Blurred figures hovered over me. The figures became clearer. It was Dr. Glass and his guards that carried me out of my room. There was another doctor standing above me, too. His name tag shone in the light. I felt a slight pressure on my arm. I closed my eyes in pain.
This is what they did to the other Experiments. They are turning them into monsters. I felt blood drip down my arm. My vision was still blurry.
“Please,” I heard Dr. Glass said. “Stop moving.”
I felt another syringe got into my arm. And then one more. The bed was moved up into a sitting position. Whatever they injected me with made me feel even drowsier than I already was. “Take her back.” Dr. Glass said.
The guards pulled me off the chair I was sitting in and took me back to my room.

I groaned as the back of my head still throbbed. Images of what just happened flashed in my head. Cass was being taken away by the guards. That was the last thing I remembered before I blacked out. I was lying on my bed, trying to rest my head from the blow with the guard. Blood was still coming out and dried blood was caked in my hair. A knock rang at the door. “Come in.” I called.
No one came in. A knock rang again. “Come in.” I said.
Still, no one came in. I groaned and got up. I opened the door and checked up and down the hall. No one was there. It was probably just my imagination. I closed the door and went back to lie on my bed. I grabbed my water from the table and took a drink. The door to our room opened. Cassandra was being brought in. I just stayed on my bed. The guard gave me the death stare and walked out. He closed the door with a slam. I was the last one. I was the last experiment. Cass was passed out. Her back was facing me. God, we are going to have a hard twelve months.
Later that night, I got up and walked in to the bathroom. My hair was plastered down to my face. I turned on the water to the sink and started splashing it on my face. The digital clock built in to the mirror read 2:42 in red, 8-bit lettering. Images flashed in my mind from the scene from earlier. Not again I thought to myself. A door opening and closing interrupted the pictures in my head. I turned the light off and headed back to my room.
Cassandra was still sound asleep. I quietly lay down in my bed. She let out a soft groan. I chuckled softly to myself. Then I remembered someone. My friend, Katelyn. She was my friend just like Cassandra’s friend, Junior. All though she was more than just a friend. I was going to ask her out. Hell, when I got old enough to marry, I was going to ask Katelyn to marry me. For each Colony, you’d have to be twenty-two or older to marry. Katelyn’s smile, her personality . . . Everything. Everything about Katelyn popped into my head. It’s just sad I didn’t have time to tell her good-bye before I left to come to this hell hole.
Tomorrow I thought to myself. Tomorrow I was going to ask Cassandra how she met Junior. Or how they met each other and became best friends. But Cassandra was perfect, too. God, being a teenager sucked. My eyes began to grow heavy and within a matter a minutes, I fell fast asleep.

Josh was busy working today. I was working in the dining hall. It was nearing one thirty. Dr. Glass left to go tell the other Experiments about lunch. Josh was the first one in. We had to sit in the order of our rooms. I was stuck between Jordan Parker and Josh.
