"omg i want them to be gay for each other"

"i love gay ships"

"guys the lgbt need more representation, respect, and rights"

"if they aren't gay for each other im suing"

"she's trans i called it"

"fuck ur gay"

"no homo dude"

some comments are so precious right? i mean what's better than stating the obvious and showing how much you support/care for a certain issue?

pretty much everything.

now, don't get me wrong, even though im straight, i love the lgbtq+ society, know people who are of different gender identities/different sexualities and support them. it's just that there are some comments and things ignorant and annoying people say that sort of pushes me off the edge.

exhibit a) "omg if they're not gay/trans/bi/lesbian/any other gender identity or sexuality then im suing!"

yes okay i know we all love gay ships and how "cute" they may be but all forms of love and kinds of love are important. if there is a straight couple or two straight people, you do not get to decide what goes on. there is an author and team behind it and they have their own reasons and preferences. it is perfectly okay to hope and ship them, but going as far as to spamming and spewing hate if things don't go your way is too much.

if a character is gay, then fine go for it. but if it's not a character and it's an actual person you're harassing with this shit then stop, this shit is DAMAGING.

(*ahem LOUIS TOMILSON ahem*)

exhibit b) "guys i hate how there aren't any lgbtq+ pairings like they need more representation and I hope these characters are gay!🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈"

no shit sherlock.

exhibit c) "lol they're totally gay for them"

just because someone is gay, doesn't mean that they'll be bending over the next person who walks by. believe it or not, even the lgbtq+ develop relationships and get to know each other (wow). it's not like everyone just has an orgy or hot and steamy sex with the closest gay person.

but in all, the amount of respect and recognition that the lgbtq+ society has received over the recent years is overwhelming and amazing. even though there is still a very long way to go, the fact that more people are aware about them and show more support is wonderful.
