Elijah and Lexi sit in a diner and wait for a waitress to take their order. Lexi takes a look around the plain walls before her eyes settle on a man staring at her.

Lexi's phone rings and she groans, picking it up. "What the bloody hell do you want, Stiles?"

"Wow, I really don't need your Mikaelson snark right now." The human grumbles.

"What do you want? Speak now, or I will hang up."

"Sheesh! You told me you would teach me how to fight!"

"Was that today?" Lexi leans back with a smirk.

"Yes! And, you said to be prepared for anything, so..." A muffled sound emits from the line, catching Elijah's attention. "I brought Scott and my bat."

"Stiles, the point of teaching you to fight is so that you don't need Scott or the bat."

"You said be prepared for anything!"

"You still aren't prepared for the fact that my brother sent me on a more important errand than teaching your weak, human ass how to fight." Lexi hangs up, shoving the phone in her pocket. "I might kill that boy."

Elijah just chuckles.

As the waitress comes over with coffee, Lexi smiles and compels the woman, "Tell me, has there been anyone out of the ordinary today?"

The woman's eyes dilate as she answers, "Only you."

Elijah just nods, nudging his cup towards her. The woman fills the coffee up quickly as she turns back to Lexi. "Would you like some more?"

"Please," The blonde nods. The waitress, as she pours, accidentally spills onto Lexi's hand.

Lexi stiffens, her fingers fanning out as she hisses through her teeth. The heat of the coffee only makes her tense as the woman starts to apologize. "I'm so sorry, let me—"

"I'm quite alright," Lexi's voice may sound pleasant, but Elijah can hear the underlying sense of anger. "Thank you."

The waitress apologizes once more before walking back over to the man still staring at them both. Lexi begins to wipe the coffee off of her wrist, the heat spreading over her skin. She lets out a deep breath, her vision blurring.

For a second, instead of coffee, her hands are covered in blood.

"Elijah," She looks up. "You should update Rebekah."

Elijah stares at her for a moment, narrowing his eyes. "You texted her."

"She never responded." Lexi tilts her head to the side. "Just do it before I pour coffee all over your expensive suit."

Elijah rolls his eyes, sliding out of the booth. He sends her one more look before stepping out of the diner for some privacy.

Lexi glances back at the man staring at her, only to see him whispering with the waitress. Her blue eyes flicker before every impulse slows. Her only thought is to protect her niece.

The bell at the door to the diner seems like the loudest thing Rebekah has ever heard. Her eyes instantly scan the area, surprisingly finding no one but her siblings in a nearby booth.

Both Lexi and Elijah stand with smiles on their lips. Rebekah grins, setting the travel cradle she brought on the table before hugging Elijah. She breathes in his scent, missing his hugs.

She pulls back and launches herself at Lexi. "Oh, I missed you," Lexi sighs into the embrace, her blue eyes closing.

Rebekah laughs, "I missed you too." She kisses Lexi's cheek before sitting next to the basket. Lexi slides into the booth, letting Elijah sit next to her.
