The Gifted | Bridges PT 1

"Not really sure how to feel about it."
- Rihanna

It was the following Friday and the night hours has just arrived. People of the city were most likely sleep after their long week, and the gifted students of Woodwind highschool were probably tired from the long training they had yesterday after school which consisted of lots of fighting and technique on wooden made objects. Harry and Kahli just got off the phone not too long ago and they were most likely dreaming about each other at this time of night. All the gifted kids slept peacefully dreaming about who knows what, but all of that was changing tonight.

Harry wake up.

Kahli wake up.

Rodney wake up.

Jeff wake up.

Sky wake up.

Niall wake up.

Kenny wake up.

Aaron wake up.

Tyla wake up.

One by one, all the kids woke up in that order feeling confused. All checking their clocks it read exactly 10:45pm. It seems like their Friday night was going to make an unexpected turn tonight. Everybody felt it, and that feeling was almost unexplainable but Kenny had the slightest idea of what was going on. They all knew who woke them up, and that's when the group chat started to go off.

Sky🍇

say???

Jeff😼
- guys...some robots
are going to invade the
city
- I just had a vision on it

The group chat went quiet after Jeff put that out there. Each and every one of them were confused at this point. They all knew that Jeff had futuristic visions but they were never put in a situation to trust them or him. If robots were going to invade the city then what are they going to do? Will it be their job to do something? All of them has been training for this moment for a while now and this could be their first test to see if they are really meant for this. This could be their chance.

They are robots on highway 9. I need you all to stop them before they take over the city. You all have each other and you must rely on your friends to defeat them.

"Shit, shit, shit," Harry threw his covers back and started to pace around his room with his phone in his shaking hands. The first person he called was Kahli and he was really freaking out.

When she picked the phone on the first ring Harry was about to rant but Kahli had cut him off, "Listen baby, I know you're probably freaking out right now but I need you to listen to me, okay? Get dressed. Rodney and I will be our way to pick you up after we leave our house. Everybody else is meeting by the bridge on the highway nine. I love you, and I'll see you soon."

The boy couldn't even utter a single word because he was absolutely dumbstruck. He was never the one to be super nervous about anything but his anxiety levels were at their all time high right now. It seems like he couldn't even breathe right now and all those doubtful thoughts hit him like a train.

And not too mention what Kahli said at the end of their phone call because it made everything even worse.

"Come on Kahli," Rodney whispers quietly. He was already dressed in all black and all they needed to do was sneak out the house without their grandmother knowing.

"O-Okay," Kahli slipped her phone in her back pocket and followed her older brother towards the front door. Her heart was racing not because of the situation but it was because how she ended her phone conversation with Harry. Was this the wrong time? She thought.

"You okay?" Rodney asks his younger sister. He pulled out of their neighborhood and headed towards Harry's house. It was his sister's sudden quiet behavior that bothered him.

"I think I made a mistake," Kahli sighs closing her eyes and shaking her head.

Rodney knew what it was all about and chuckled, "You said the three words didn't you?"

"Yeah," she grimaces.

"Did he say it back?" He asks.

"I hung up the phone after I said it," Kahli groans into her hands.

"Damn sis, I didn't know you like that guy so much," Rodney breathes. He knew that his sister was a distant when it came to the lovey-dovey shit but Harry was obviously different.

"I think I shouldn't have said it," she whispers hugging herself.

"But you did, so you must have meant it," Rodney says seriously. He spoke the full truth and he always kept it real with his little sis because he would want the same.

Kahli was on the verge of tearing up, "What if he doesn't feel the same way about me?"

"You are just gonna figure that out yourself Kahli," Rodney says driving down the street and stopping at Harry's house.

Sighing, she got out of the car and made her way to the side of the house. Kahli had no idea how she was going to get up there but she had to think because she didn't want to break in. She had texted him but she has gotten no response which is scaring her. Huffing, she looked around seeing a long and thick metal piece going up to his room. Sticking her hand out she bent the metal into steps, the sound was kinda squeaky but not too loud to draw attention to herself. Once the steps were formed she carefully made her way to Harry's window, she opened in and practically fell in with a loud thud.

"Shit," she cursed rubbing her elbow and looking around the dark room, frowning when she didn't see Harry around.

But he was in the corner, seconds away from having a panic attack, "K-Kahli?"

"It's me baby," Kahli stood up to her feet and went over to Harry to cup his precious face. "Are you okay?"

"I-I don't t-think I can do this," Harry cries shaking his head. Knees were up to his chest and his arms were wrapped around himself as he sat in the corner. His hair was messy and his eyes were puffy from crying.

"Nonsense Harry, I know you're ready," Kahli says wiping his tears away and moving his hair from his face.

"W-What if I'm not?" Harry croaks.

"You never know until you try," Kahli was trying to lift his spirits but it seems like she couldn't because he felt so discouraged and defeated already.

"I..I can't," he whispers looking away.

Kahli sighed, "Harry but—,"

"Just go, okay? I'm not going," Harry stated suddenly, he moved her hands away from his face and just..pushed her away.

Kahli frowned, "Harry but we—,"

"I just want to be left alone," Harry says more harshly this time. "Just go away and don't come back ever again."

Nodding, she stood to her feet and left him and her broken heart behind.
