The Gifted | Glasses
"Jumpman, jumpman, jumpman them boys up to somethin'."
- DrakeYesterday was probably the best Saturday Harry has ever had in a very very long time. He had company over, and that company was a girl that he already had a huge crush on and had explainable powers that made her even more attractive to him. Second, he didn't feel alone like he did on regular weekends because his mother would be gone for work and he didn't have any friends to hang out with so that pretty much left him alone all the time. But yesterday was different, and today was going to be different too.
"What paragraph are you on?" Harry asks Kahli after a moment of silence between the two of them. She was over at his house, and they were both in his bedroom finishing their essays that was due tomorrow in Ms.Day's class. They finished their rough drafts yesterday and now they were going to complete their final draft today.
"My last one," she says adding a few more details and ending her last paragraph with a period. "All done now."
"My hand hurt," Harry groans. "I hate writing essays."
"Eh, you'll get over it," Kahli shrugs putting her dark blue binder in her backpack.
"Eh, you'll get over it," Harry mocks rolling his eyes and putting his essay in his backpack as well.
"Stop mocking me," Kahli mutters crossing her arms over her chest.
"Stop mocking me," he teases.
She glared at him, "Harry—,"
"Styles," he finished with a grin, those dimples almost mocking her too but she found them so adorable on his face.
"Your last name is Styles?" She chuckles.
"Yes, you gotta problem?" He challenges raising an eyebrow at her.
"Nah, but I'm just tryna find out what parents in their right mind would name their kid Harry Styles?" She spoke making a serious thinking face.
Harry squinted his eyes at her and used his power to pull her glasses down her face then levitate them on the top of his head perfectly, grinning when she started to throw a fit.
"Come on man, gimme my glasses back," she whines reaching out to get them but Harry moved them higher up so she couldn't reach. "That's not fair Harry!"
"Life's not fair, you know?" Harry chuckles before using his power to open his bedroom window, he used his other hand to placed the glasses perfectly on the edge.
She gasped, "You wouldn't dare."
"I wouldn't?" He challenges moving the glasses out the window so it was floating from his bedroom window.
"No, no, no!" She went sprinted to them but Harry held her back by force and lifted her up from the floor so she couldn't move. Khali literally screamed when she realized that she was floating. "Put me down Harry!"
"Aw, but you look cute," Harry chuckles, he got up from his bed and walked over to the window, he brought the glasses to his hand and turned around teasingly. "I didn't know you would freak out over some glasses love."
Kahli was about to tell him something smart but when she saw one of the twins sneaking up behind him she screamed, "Harry behind you!"
He thought it was a joke at first, but when he felt arms wrapping around his throat then he knew that this wasn't a joke anymore. There was somebody behind him wanting to pull him out the window by his neck.
From the distraction Kahli fell to the floor then scrambled back up to her feet over to Harry. She gripped each of the twin's arms and used her power to bend the metals deep inside. Once she did, the twin screamed falling hard to the ground and releasing Harry from the chokehold.
Kahli looked out at the window seeing the other twin coming to help his brother from the fall. The one helping was Grayson, and he gave her a very deadly look before walking down the street to a black parked Mustang down the block from the house. After they were gone Kahli looked around to see if anybody saw anything and luckily nobody was outside and nobody was peeking out from their windows either. So Kahli closed his bedroom window and covered them with the curtains before looking at Harry who was laying on the ground looking up towards the feeling.
"Are you okay Harry?" Kahli asks gently, she took a seat on the floor next to him and waited for a response.
"My back just hurts really bad," he mumbles then looked at her. "But either than that..I guess I'm okay."
"Come on," Kahli spoke standing up to her feet and helping him up from the ground, he winced at the pain he felt in his back and once they made it to his bed he relaxed. She pulled up a chair and moved his curls out of his face. "How are you breathing so well after being choked like that?"
"I don't know," he shrugs. "It's like I can't lose uhm..air?"
"But..you can move non-metal things too, right?" She asks trying to put everything together.
"I can move anything with air Khali," he tells her. "It's a tad bit harder to move things that are made out of metal, but they still move, you know?"
"So..you can just move things with air, you can't lose air, and you can restore it too?" Then Kahli started to rub her temples feeling almost dizzy for thinking about it. "Shit, this is all confusing man."
"I know it is," he chuckles, then he started to slowly lace their fingers together. "But thank you for saving me."
"It's nothing," she blushes looking down at their hands then back up at Harry who stared at her with adoration in his eyes. Kahli was starting to feel some type of way, and she hope that he felt it too.
"What if..what if there is greater danger coming our way?" Harry asks seriously, his voice soft and scared. "What are we going to do if something like that happens to us?"
"We gotta stay together Harry, and look out for each other, okay? I can't afford to have anything happen to you," Kahli spoke looking into his eyes seriously.
"I can't let anything happen to you either," Harry whispers softly placing a few kisses on her knuckles, her skin soft and smooth, making him never wanting to let go of her hand.
Kahli swooned over his sweet words and the small gesture that caused tiny colorful butterflies to swarm in her stomach. So she cleared her throat to be a little serious, "How about we come up with a plan?"
"A plan?" Harry raised an eyebrow. "You serious?"
"I'm sure," she replies with a firm nod.
Harry thought about it then started to smile, "Sounds good to me, I'm in."
