Week later
Elijah sat on the living room carpet, playing peek-a-boo with Amiyah.
"Miya, I see you. I see you, princess." Elijah cooed at a giggling Amiyah.
"Dada!" Amiyah squealed.
"Um, Micheal?" Elijah called with his eyebrow quirked in confusion.
"What?" Micheal replied, coming from the kitchen where he had been making snacks for Amiyah.
"Listen." Elijah said before he continued to play with Amiyah.
"Dada!" Amiyah giggled.
"She's been one for a while now and when she finally decides to say her first words, your the first word she knows, instead of the person who birthed her. That's pitiful." Micheal ranted, shaking his head.
"Stop being salty, Micheal." Elijah laughed.
"I'm not being salty. It's obviously something's wrong so I'll schedule another appointment to find out what's going on and you better come to this one." Micheal rambled, going back into the kitchen to grab his phone.
"Micheal, we don't need an appointment. She just likes me better, that's all." Elijah stated.
"Whatever." Micheal mumbled to himself.
Elijah dismissed Micheal's comment and continued to play with Amiyah until she started to dose off. Elijah laid her down on the soft carpet and put a blanket over her small body.
"Micheal?" Elijah called into the kitchen.
"Yeah?" Micheal answered, walking out of the kitchen.
"I was doing some thinking and I want to take you out to lunch." Elijah suggested.
"Like a date cause-" Micheal started.
"No, not like a date. Think of it like a way for us to reconnect." Elijah said.
"Like a date." Micheal confirmed.
"Damnit, Micheal. It's not a date." Elijah shouted.
"Don't start that yelling, Elijah. I ain't tryna hear all that right now." Micheal warned.
"Stop pissing me off then, Micheal." Elijah mumbled.
"What you say?" Micheal asked, cupping his ear.
Elijah said nothing but he did make sure Amiyah was coddled correctly in her blankets.
"Oh, now you want to be quiet. You so damn difficult." Micheal muttered to himself.
"You just said you ain't want no yelling but once I do what you say and stop yelling, it's a problem." Elijah commented.
"Yeah, it's a problem cause I know you said something smart." Micheal scoffed.
"I'm not doing this with you in front of my daughter." Elijah dismissed.
"Oh, now she's yours. What happened to 'Micheal, I can't do this. I'm not ready to be a father'?" Micheal snapped.
