Next day
Elijah held a sleeping Amiyah in his arms. He had just finished feeding her and was just getting ready to put her down for her nap until his phone rung loudly.
Amiyah began to stir so he quickly picked up the phone that sat on the dresser and stashed it in his pocket.
With the interruption handled, Elijah carefully placed Amiyah in her crib and kissed his daughter's cheek before exiting the room and closing the door behind him.
He then travelled across the hall to his room, where he happily plopped down onto his bed. He mentally prepared himself for the verbal abuse he was going to receive before removing his phone from his pocket and holding it to his ear.
"Hello?" Elijah spoke into the phone.
"Did you hear anything I just said, Elijah!?" Michael shouted in his ear.
"No, what did you say?" Elijah replied.
"Don't humor me." Michael scoffed.
"I'm not. I just wanted to know what you said." Elijah sighed.
"I said, the party starts at three so I better see you and my daughter here by two thirty." Michael warned.
"Okay. We'll be there." Elijah agreed.
"You better be." Michael mumbled.
"Is that all you needed, Michael?" Elijah asked.
"No. I'm bored." Michael groaned.
"Aren't you supposed to be setting up the party?" Elijah questioned.
"Yeah, but I'm bored and have no one to talk to." Michael pouted.
"Chres is there, isn't he?" Elijah said in confusion.
"Yeah, but we're not talking." Michael mumbled.
"Why?" Elijah inquired.
"He's mad that I invited his baby daddy to Amiyah's birthday party." Michael informed.
"Oh. Who is he?" Elijah urged.
"You remember Jacquees, the singer?" Michael inquired.
"Of course, dude was a legend. He's Chres' baby daddy?" Elijah replied.
"Yep, don't tell him I told you though. He'd be even more pissed at me." Michael replied.
"My lips are sealed but can I talk to you later? I'm tryna get a nap in before we leave for the party." Elijah yawned.
"Do you have to? I like talking to you." Michael whined.
"We'll talk at the party, Michael, I promise." Elijah assured.
"Okay, Elijah. See you later." Michael muttered before he hung up phone.
Elijah sat the phone on the dresser next to him and proceeded to get some rest.
Loud cries echoed from the baby monitor. The sound travelled from the small radio to Elijah's ears in mere seconds, startling him awake. He got out his bed and slowly made his way across the hall to Amiyah's room.
