2 weeks later

Micheal laid in Dana's bed watching reruns of Love & Hip-Hop, enjoying a little peace to himself while Amiyah slept. That was until his phone rung, interrupting his attempt at relaxation.

Micheal groaned loudly in the empty room before picking up the phone and placing it at his ear.

"Hi, ma." Micheal spoke into the phone.

"Hi, baby. Why haven't you been calling me? What's more important than checking in with the woman who birthed you? Don't you know I worry about your skinny behind, Micheal. " His mother rambled.

"I've been busy, ma." Micheal sighed.

"That don't mean you can't call your mama every once in a while, Lashuan." His mother scoffed.

"Yes, mama." Micheal complied.

The phone line went silent for a few seconds, the only thing heard was slight shuffling and the low rumble of someone's voice in the background.

"Lashaun, you know I ain't heard from you in awhile. How you been? Talk to me." His mother said softly.

"I've been good, mama. Amiyah has just been tiring me out alot lately." Micheal explained.

"Well, why don't you have that boyfriend of yours helping you out? He did get you pregnant, the least he can do is help raise his child." His mother questioned.

"Mama, me and Elijah aren't speaking right now." Micheal mumbled.

"And why not, Lashuan?" His mother sassed.

"I'm just done with him, mama. Besides, I'm with someone else now." Micheal replied.

"Who?" His mother asked.

"Dana." Micheal answered.

"What's with you and these light skinned boys? You need to stop messing with them. They ain't nothing but no good. Why can't you just find a nice, dark boy to settle down and have kids with, instead of these little heathens you going around dating?" His mother ranted.

"Mama you said the same thing when I started dating Elijah." Micheal sighed.

"I sholl did and I was right too. Hell, that boy ain't do nothing but make you broke and pregnant. I swear, Lashaun, you ought to listen to me sometimes; I would never tell you something I ain't been through myself." His mother ranted.

"Okay, mama, I have to go. I'll call you later. Love you." Micheal rushed out before he quickly hang up the phone.

Micheal sighed before dropping his phone into his bed and cuddling into the covers.

The door opened suddenly to reveal a reluctant Dana.

"Sorry, if messing with your sleep." Dana apologized.

"It's cool. I wasn't doing nothing anyway, I just got done talking to my mama." Micheal assured.

"Oh, did I interrupt something? If I did, I'll just come back later. I know you haven't talked to your mom in a while and I understand if you probably want some alone time to talk to her before Amiyah wakes up." Dana rambled nervously.
