Seokjin rubbed his eyes wearily as he listened to Hoseok rant about their situation. "How will we even know if she is infected? It isn't like we have an instant mutant detector." Hoseok groaned and entwined his fingers behind his head as he spoke.
"I don't know." Seokjin rolled his eyes and stared in a convenience store.
"I see her!" Hoseok exclaimed as he pointed inside. The girl was holding paper towels against her bleeding hand and scowling at the sparce selection of medical supplies.
"I have an idea." Seokjin looked at the small black case he was holding and walked in. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply enjoying the cool air provided. "I heard my friend got you hurt." He said to her softly. "I have a travelling medical kit, let me help." Seokjin held up the black case and the girl stared at him.
"I don't- I mean. It's okay, really. I just need some tweezers and I will be fine." She smiled at him softly. Seokjin felt his body relax as he took in the warm look she was giving him.
"Please." Seokjin ignored Hoseok (the younger boy was scowling at her with crossed arms) and led her outside. He sat down on the bench and patted the spot beside him as he shook off the backpack Namjoon had given him. He tore it open making the zipper screech in protest as he pulled out tweezers and a sanitizing strip.
"Yoongi is very coarse. He takes awhile to get used to." Seokjin said as he took her hand in his. "He means well. He just isn't used to attention." Narrowing his eyes he started dotting the blood away with the cloth and pulling glass out.
She hissed and bit her tongue, refusing to cry out. She didn't want to trust him after his friend had slammed her into a wall, but she supposed she had no choice. She looked up and watched him focusing so intently on her wound. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Seokjin smiled at her and wiped the rest of the blood. "I have a little medicine, it will help you heal faster." He pulled out a little container with amber serum. Hoseok stared at Seokjin in disbelief as his older friend smiled at her charmingly.
"Ah....sure." Hesitantly she nodded and watched as he dabbed a q-tip in and gently ran it over her palm. He wrapped her palm with gauze after and put everything away. Seokjin had no idea if that was enough to make her react if she was a mutant, but at least it was an idea. "Is it like tea tree oil?" She gently poked at the bandage with her finger as she stood up.
"I guess." Seokjin nodded and watched as she smiled at him.
"Thank you. I'm sorry for being a hassle." Before he could reply she had turned and was walking away.
"I guess she isn't a mutant." Hoseok sighed in relief. "It would be horrible if she was. The company is going to be looking at all the cameras and if they saw she interacted with us then they would test her."
Seokjin nodded and agreement and pulled the backpack in again. "We can't let another mutant fall in their hands. Not if we can help it." Hoseok sighed and started walking, trailing behind her slowly. As change would have it they were going the same way. His lips tumbled through a curse as the girl collpased like a doll on the streets.
"Get Namjoon, we have to go." SeokJin knelt beside the girl and wearily considered picking her up. With his asthma he couldn't run so he had to rely on Hoseok but they had to move as fast as possible.
"That isn't because she's a mutant like us. There is no way the serum would work like that, it is always injected..."
"Hoseok." SeokJin glared at the younger boy and pushed him forwards. "Go now and hurry."
"Fine." Hoseok scowled and ran to get the former lab assistant. as he left SeokJin moved the backpack so it was against his chest.
"I guess we ruined your life huh?" Seokjin sighed and looped his arms through her armpits trying to pull her up. He imagined she must have been traveling someone. She could have been going to school, or going to see family and friends. She was having the life they wished they could have and they ruined it. There was nothing they could do now though other than take her with them and try and keep her safe.
He eventually managed to get her on his back and started piggy backing her to the busstation. His mucles screamed In protest and the exertion made his breath short but it was necessary.
Namjoon met him halfway and took her from Seokjin instantly. "I found a train. Doesn't leave for another ten minutes. We can travel in that." He sighed and shifted his arms. "How did you carry her so far?"
Seokjin opted to say nothing and instead shook his head. He forced himself to work as hard as he did.
"Taehyung is lucky, he is already starting to clear up a bit. But I have no doubt he will be sick for another week." Namjoon shifted his arms and his fingers pressed into the soft flesh of her thigh as he carried her. "Hoseok is taking them to the train, they will meet us there." He looked at Seokjin who remained quiet. "We can drop her off at the station along the way to the train."
"No we can't." Seokjin felt his chest tighten as he spoke. "Didn't Hoseok tell you why she fainted? I cleaned her wound and I put the serum, the amber serum on her cuts. He didn't say that?"
Namjoon chewed on his lip and stopped walking. Instantly she felt heavier. He could feel his arms aching with the thought of her coming with them. The amber serum only worked on mutants. It knocked them out by attacking the dna strands that mutants have. It was too much of a coincidence for her to faint after Seokjin putting it on her wound. "What if she isn't one of us?"
"Does it matter?" Seokjin frowned and looked at Namjoon.
"We can barely take care of ourselves."
"She wouldn't be able to stand up to the company." Seokjin said as he shook his head. The girl he spoke too was too naive. She was too soft to be able to handle the company confronting her.
"She would leak information about us." Namjoon muttered in agreement.
"Whether she is a mutant or not, she's a lose end."
"It doesn't count as kidnapping, it's just protection. For her and us." Namjoon mumbled.
"Exactly." Seokjin trailed off and the two looked at each other silently. They were both idiots.
