A sliver of sunlight pierced through the bedroom, lighting up the dimly lit room. I tossed lightly in bed and stretched my arms, letting out a small grunt. It was only seconds after waking before I heard the distinctive cry of baby Darcy. I rushed out of bed and made my way to her crib.

"Shh. Shh. It's okay baby. I'm here. Mommy's here." I rocked her back and forth, clutching her close to my chest. Her cries started to pitter off to a complete stop. I glanced down at her and saw her beautiful emerald green eyes staring straight at mine.

"Are you hungry baby?" She giggled and nodded her head eagerly.

I smiled at her reaction. "Cmon, let's go get some nummies." I tickled her tummy and walked out of the bedroom. My feet shuffled across the cold wooden floor towards the kitchen.

"What do you want to eat?" She pointed her chubby little pointer finger at the container of pineapples.

"Pineapples?" She nodded her head.

"Baby, it's a little too early for pineapples." I could see the tears brimming at her eyes.

"No, no baby don't cry. Please don't cry. Wha-wha-." I ran towards the cupboard.

"Wha-wha-what about peas? You love peas baby!" I showed her the Gerber peas container and the glossiness of her eyes disappeared. She shrieked and clapped her hands. I let out a laugh.

"Alright, peas it is." I set her down in her high chair and she pounded her tiny fists against the table, excitedly. I spooned a small glob of the green mush. How do babies like this mush?

"Here comes the airplane baby. Vroom! Vroom!" I spiraled the spoon and gently fed her. She softly smacked her lips to swallow the green mush and a small trail fell down the side of her cheek. I grabbed her blue towel and gently wiped the side of her cheek. She giggled and let out a gibberish sound.

"What baby?" She thrashed her arms around towards the couch.

"The couch?" She nodded her head. I picked her up from her high chair and made my way over to the raggedy, broken chair. I sat down and turned her towards me, so she was facing me. Her chubby cheeks were tainted with a rosy blush. Her eyes were a radiant emerald green. Her nose was so small and tiny. Her lips were so plump and pink and turned into a wide grin.

"What are you smiling at?" She scrunched her nose and giggled more in pure delight. She grabbed my cheeks were her two little hands and squashed my face together.

"Glub. Glub. You made mommy a fish." She giggled louder at my actions. Her eyes crinkled into little creases as she laughed.

She reminded me so much of him. I was so lost in my thoughts about him that I didn't notice baby Darcy wriggling around on my lap.

"Mu-mu." Darcy kept wriggling around and repeating mu. She was going to say her first word.

"Yes Darcy baby?"

"Mu-mu-mumma." She looked up at me as she said mumma and I couldn't help the tears of joy from escaping my eyes.

"Say it again baby." I couldn't believe my ears.

"Mumma." She grabbed my face again and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Mumma." I was in tears. She finally said her first word and it was mumma.

"Mumma."

"Yes baby?"

"Mumma." She pointed her finger at the remote and wriggled out of my hands. Before she could start crawling, I grabbed a hold of her and I extended my hand towards the remote.

"What do you want to do with the remote baby?" She reached for the remote in my hands and I gave it to her.

"What now baby?" She tried pressing the power button on the remote, but the tv wasn't turning on. Her eyebrows furrowed and she started mumbling some gibberish to herself.

"Here baby. Let mumma do it." I took the remote out of her hands and turned the tv on. She clapped her hands in enthusiasm as the virtual image flashed on the screen. I, on the other hand, was far from excited. On the screen was the image of the man. The man I so very much hated with every fiber of my being. The man that left me without even an explanation. The man that abandoned his daughter. Harry. Harry Styles. The devil's breed.

Anger blinded my vision and blurred my thoughts of this green eyed handsome devil that I barely heard Darcy's second word.

"Dadda."
