"Darcy. It's okay. Darcy. Darcy. Please Darcy!" I jolted awake with tears streaming down my face and sweat all over. It was just a dream.

"Mumma. Mumma." Darcy was panic stricken and shaking. She grabbed my cheeks and stared at me with her panic filled eyes. Her emerald green eyes turned a dark forest green just like when Harry was panicked. She let out some gibberish and pulled me closer to her. I knew what she was trying to say and I just shook my head yes, signifying I was okay.

"Thank you Darcy." I kissed her forehead and she let out a giggle. I'm so glad babies get over situations quickly. I'm going to miss that a lot when she becomes a teen.

"What time is it?" As if I thought someone was going to ask me. I glanced at the rustic clock on the wall and saw it was exactly eleven am. Good thing it was my day off or else I'd be getting a mouthful from my boss, Mr.Stevens. The old man is such a pervert. There isn't a moment when I don't catch him checking out Jennifer, Rhonda, and all the other workers with a vagina and two legs.

"Mumma."

"Yes baby?" She rubbed her tummy and I knew she was hungry. I padded over to the kitchen and opened the fridge. She immediately gestured at the clear container of cold pineapples.

"Baby wants pineapples?" She nodded her head eagerly. I grabbed the container and made my way back to the couch. I set her down on my lap and I opened the container of pineapples. The fragrant tropical aroma filled the atmosphere and made my mouth water. I peeled off a small section and fed it to Darcy. She made a displeased face at the sourness of the pineapple.

"Baby no like pineapples?" I started to close the container and she placed her hand over the container, guarding her pineapples. She grabbed and peeled off a smaller pineapple for herself, popping it into her mouth. I watched in awe in how intelligent she was. She picked up on her environment so fast. It was both a positive and negative.

The time flew and it was half past three before I even knew it. Darcy had fallen asleep on my lap, sucking her thumb.

"I might as well try to get some work done." I carefully reached for my work binder crammed with unnecessary papers and notes that I have yet to clean out and I opened to the first page. The first page was always my favorite page. It was a collage of pictures of Darcy and I. One was her with spaghetti all over her face, reaching for the camera. The flash of the camera made her eyes even more of a piercing green. Another was her grandpa holding her and her grandma tickling her stomach. Her smile was so wide and radiating off happiness. There were so many pictures in there, but my favorite has to be the picture of us together at the beach. It was a picture of me in the hospital bed, holding Darcy for the very first time. It was at that moment that I realized I was going to have to be a mother. That this baby in my hands was mine and I was going to protect, love, and care for her no matter what.

I stared down at the baby in my arms fast asleep.

"I'm going to protect, love, and care for you no matter what sweetheart. I love you so much." I kissed the tip of her nose. She scrunched her nose and snuggled closer into my chest.

Time flew by again and it was nine o' clock at night. Darcy hadn't woken up yet and I was getting pretty tired. I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier. Until I was overcome with the hands of sleep.
