"A gap year."

I stood in front of my parents with guilt pouring out of me. I didn't want to do this...but I had too.

There was no other option...

"What?" My father asked with disbelief in his eyes. He was tense and I could tell that he wasn't too happy. My mother placed her hand on his shoulder. "We will discuss this matter later. As of now," My mothers soft eyes fell on me, making a lump form in my throat. "let's go get your graduation robes."

"Ladies and gentleman," I looked beside me to see a stranger on one side and Alice on the other. We were arranged in alphabetical order, so Jason was obviously near the end.

Alice gave me a weak, yet excited, smile then draped her hand on top mine. A smile pursed onto my face, making a stifled laugh escape my mouth.

We're finally done. I thought to myself as my heart began to pound in my throat.

"may I present to you," Mr.Pearson had a grin curled on his lips as his eyes scanned the crowd. His eyes landed on me and his grin started to fade. Our eye sight connected and it seemed as though he was pitying me. "The graduating class of 2013!"

Our eye connection broke as everyone jumped out of their seat. I brushed Mr.Pearson's behaviour off of my shoulders then turned towards Alice. We threw our caps into the air and cheers broke out throughout the crowd. Confetti fluttered from the sky down into our hair. I extended my arms out to hug Alice and she accepted the hug with a squeal. I chuckled then let her go from the hug. The second I did, Dylan ran up behind her and spun her around, capturing her in a kiss.

Lovebirds.

Before I could think of any thing else, I felt someone grip my waist and spin me around. I came face to face with none other, but Jason.

His breath brushed against my nose as we both stood staring admirably in eachother's eyes. Jason finally let a repressed laugh out and his lips were planted onto mine. I tensed up at first then relaxed. I wrapped my arms around the back of his neck as he delicately held the back of my head.

We pulled back as Dylan ran up to Jason and patted his back, making a loud thud. Jason hacked then pounded his chest, causing a giggle to spill out of my mouth.

A grin formed on Jason's face and he chuckled. "What? Do you find my pain funny?" I nodded my head at him, making his grin widen. "I really do." I said before flicking his curled locks out of his face.

Jason's grin grew and he let a quiet chuckle out. "You really are an amazing girlfriend aren't you?" Jason's voice held a sarcastic tone to it, but it was still tender and sweet.

I sighed then poked his nose. "I am truly the best. I'm glad you finally admitted it." Jason rolled his eyes then swooped me back into another hug. "Yes," Jason dipped me downwards, but kept a strong grip around my waist. Heat rose in my cheeks as I stared into Jason's eyes.

"you are truly amazing, Rose Elliot." He softly whispered before planting his lips back on mine.

It's been five years.

I took a gap year then enrolled into a college.

A college back in Texas...

It was hard but our long distance relationship worked. We savoured the sweet, quick-far too quick moments we shared together.

We would listen to mixtapes on the roof of Jason's 'house' in L.A. Our noses would bump together and our lips would connect in a clumsy manner. We would stare at the barely visible stars, pointing and giggling like little kids.
