Jack The Giant Slayer
Chapter 4: Climbing The Bean Stock
Alex's Point of view:
The morning started off the same as usual. I got up I did my usually ignoring my uncle as he did his morning routine.
I left the house and headed towards jacks. But before I left I grabbed my bow and arrow. I wasn't planing on hunting but I'd rather go walk in the woods then jack then hear is uncle scream at him all day.I walked along the dirt road and soon the sound of a crowed of horses we heard coming up the hill towards me.
Soon the king and a bunch of guard came falling along. When the king notice me he stopped and looked down at me.
"Have you seen my daughter?" He asked
"No I replied
He looked down at me long and hard.
"Is there something wrong with you knees?" He asked
"Nope" I replied
He turned and jumped off his horse.
He walked around me for a while then looked at my necklace.
"I thought you looked familiar." He said dropping my neck lace back against my neck.
"Your Alexandra daughter of my past guard John." He said walking back towards his guards and his horse.
"Very we'll, Elmont give Alexandra a ride to help me find my daughter she knows the land and I trust her." He said speaking to the guard next to him.I looked up at the guard and realized that it was the same guard I saw yesterday at the market. He pulled his horse over towards me and pulled out his hand.
I grabbed his hand and he swung me on to the back of the horse. I wrapped my hand around his body as we headed off.We traveled until we were right in front of jacks house or were was it use to be. The house was replaced by a giant bean stock that was so high you couldn't see it end. At the bottom if the bean stock elated jack on his back.
To guards jumped off their horses and walked over towards jack. They picked up a bracelet out of his hands and showed it to the king.
"It's Isabella's." The kind said holding it into his hand.
"Wake him up." He saidThe guards kicked at his side until he woke up. Jack jumped up and the guards grabbed him by the side.
"What were you doing with my daughters bracket?" The king asked Jack
The guards pushed Jack down to his knees and he looked up at the king.
"No, I-I didn't steal it. I promise. She showed up at my house looking for shelter. I-I was trying to help her your majesty, and then..." Jack said
"And then?" asked the kind
Jack looked around "All this happened."Every one looked around at the mess.
"Wait a minute, I recognize you from the market. Your name is, uh, Jack. Let him up." Elmont said
When the guards let go of Jack I jumped off Elmonts horse and ran and gave Jack a hug."And where is your house, Jack?" Asked the king.
Jack became quiet and pointed up the tall bean stock.
The king looked over to Elmont "Elmont, assemble a team of your best men. Men who can climb."
"Yes, sire" Replied Elmont
"Your majesty I'd like to accompany them." said a guy on the other side of the king
"With due respect lord Roderick, this mission likely to be extremely arduous, best left to the professionals." Elmont said
"Your majesty, I would like the chance to prove my worth to my beloved. And to you." Roderick replied
"Very well. Just bring her back." The kind repliedJacks uncle came tuning towards us screaming jacks name. When he saw the king he bent down on his knees.
"Who is this man?" Asked the king
"He's my uncle." Jack replied
"Your majesty, I want to volunteer." Jack said to the king
"Your majesty, please." Elmont said before getting intrepid by the other guards laughing.
"Why don't we bring our wives and lady friends while we're at it." One of the other guards said.
"Let's not be hasty. I think the young man should come with us. He's the only one who saw what happened, and he might shed some light on this mystery." Roderick said
"Your majesty" Elmont began but the king said something
"No, Elmont Roderick's right. He might be an asset." He said
He turned to Jack "You and Alexandra go, and may god help you bring back my daughter." The king saidThe guards tied ropes around are body's and we began to climb. Elmont was in in front I was behind him and Jack was behind me. We climb higher higher every second.
Soon we could barely see the bottom or the people.
"What do you suppose is up there?" Jack asked
"I'm not a superstitious man, Jack. I never suppose. I simply prepare for everything." Elmont replied.
"What, like giants?" Jack asked.
"No everything real." Elmont replied"What about you Alex?" Jack asked me.
"Jack I don't think I climb." I replied
Jack nodded his head and kept climbing.Soon when Jack grabbed one of the branches it snapped and he fell down about a few inches bring me along.
Elmont reached his hand down and I grabbed it. He pulled me by his side.
"Are you okay?" He asked me
"Other then almost falling yea I'm fine." I replied"Fear of heights?" Asked a guard that caught Jack.
"Fear of falling." Jack replied
"Well, then don't fall." Elmont said
I laughed at Elmont comment and started to climb again.
"Oh, that's great advice, yea." Jack said
"All right, let's get moving, chaps." Elmont said climbing even higher. We climbed until it was an end of one of the big vine branch. We some how had to get across to the other side to keep climbing.
"I do hope you're not putting yourself through all this with the aim of impressing the princess." Elmont said to Jack whole fixing his cross bow. What? No." Jack replied
"Good. Because you'd be barking up the wrong beanstalk." Elmont said to JackElmont pointed his cross bow to the other side of the bean stock and looked at me. He shot the arrow and it hit dead cent of the beam stock. The arrow was tied with a rope and Elmont pulled on the rope to make sure it was sucre.
"Even if she could avoid marrying Roderick, Law dictates that she will never marry a commoner." Elmont said to Jack"Wrap your arms around me." Elmont said to me
"What?" I said
"You do want to get across and I'm not letting you go alone." Elmont told me
I did what he told me I wrapped my arm around him.
He looked down at me "Hold on tight." He told me before he placed his cross bow on top of the rope and we both slid down until we were on the other side.He turned back "You turn." Elmont screamed across the bean stock.
"Come on Jack it's not very far." Elmont shouted again
Jack used his belt that held his knife to help his get across.
The guard kick Jack and Jack started to flow down the rope. His belt began to slip and before he mad it he fell. But he fell on the branch about about an inch below us. Elmont looked over at the guard "Crawe." Elmont shouted and waved his hand.
Jack woke up a minute later looking up at us "Am I dead?" He asked
"Not just yet." Replied ElmontWe kept claiming but soon it started to get dark as started to rain. the branches we climbed started to become slippery. Soon lighting hit the bean stock and a men screamed. Every one started to fall backwards. I lost grip but caught my self.
Elmont cross bow flew off and almost wake me in my face. I didn't mean to scream but that was ended up happening.
"Are you alright?" Elmont asked me
"Yea." I said backThe guards below us were screaming for help. One of them got struck by lightening
"What's happening down there?" Elmont screamed looking down at the men.
When no one replied Elmont yelled again "Roderick, what's going on?"
"The line! It snapped! They're gone! They're all gone!" Roderick screamed from belowEverything became quiet and Elmont held on his body tensing. The rain began to pour down harder.
They gone I replayed in my head_________________________________________________________________________________
