Chapter 8: Lights of Cloister

Alex's point of view:

We followed along a tiny stream of water and leading miles and miles in the woods. Finally the stream lead us to a familiar open field. With the same head rock with the giant bean stock attached.

But in front on the head rock was a giant sleeping.

"Ah, Roderick's handiwork, no doubt." Elmont said watching the giant.

We hide behind one of the rocks in the middle of the field out of sight of the giant.

"He must've sent him to block the entrance." Isabella said

"I guess he doesn't want us leaving any time soon. So anybody got a plan?" I asked

A bee buzzed by Jack and he followed it with his eyes.

"Iv got an idea." He said jumping up

"What"Elmont said looking up at Jack

"We're gonna wake a sleeping giant." Jack replied

"Well, that doesn't sound like a good idea." Elmont replied following Jack.

Me and Isabella stayed behind the hidden rock watching as the guys carried the giant bee hive on a stick and made there way to the giant.

"This is a terrible idea." Elmont said looking down at the bees

"Have you ever killed a giant before?" Asked Jack

"And you've killed what, one? Which makes you an expert now?" Elmont replied.

"Weren't you in an oven an hour ago?" Jack replied.

Elmont stopped walking and looked at Jack. Soon the sleeping giant started snoring making Elmont jump in place.

The guys finally made it to the sleeping giant. Elmont walked to the head of the giant and Jack followed. Elmont slowly pulled the helmet of the giant and Jack moved the bee hive into its helmet.

Elmont quickly slide the helmet on and both of them ran back to me and Isabella.

"All right the moment he clears that hole we make a run for it." Jack said looking at all of us.

We sat their waiting Elmont moved his hand to hold on to mine and we both waited for the giant to wake up.

Finally he did.

"Ahh! What the...? bees ahh!" The giant stood up hitting his face and helmet trying to get the bees. The giant tripped in the stream and fell faced froward.

"Why do these things always happen to me?" The giant said going towards the edge.

At the last minute before falling he pulled off his helmet and the bees flew free.

On bee came back and laid on his armer. The giant hit the bee and it went for his face. The giant flinched back making him fall of the edge.

When there was nothing left we all started laughing. Elmont wrapped his arms and round me and was laughing.

Isabella and Jack both got quiet and hugged each other.

"You did it, Jack, you did it." Isabella said

Elmont faced turned to sadness and I knew what he was sad about. They could never be together as long as they live.

When Jack and Isabella broke apart it went silent for a while.

"All right let's go." Jack said leading us to the rock.

Elmont started to slow down and I got a bad feeling in my stomach.

"Princess, Alex, and Jack you go I'll be down as soon as I can." Elmont said looking at us.

"What? no, Elmont, we go together." Isabella said to Elmont.

"I'm not going anywhere without that crown." Elmont replied

"Well, that's not the mission. Find the princess and bring her home." Jack said

"Well, then, you complete the mission, get her to her father and leave Roderick to me." Elmont replied

"Yeah but-" Jack said but Elmont cut him off

"Did you ever kill a man?" He asked

"No" Jack replied

"What about me?" I said

Elmont walked closer to me and stopped.

"Your the reason I'm staying. I can't let Roderick harm you and I need to know your safe. I love you Alex and that won't change." Elmont kissed my on the lips and gave me a hug.

"I promise I will see you down there." He whispered into my ear.

"Go" he said looking at Jack.

Jack hands him his knife.

"Thank you and thanks you for saving my life. Here Jack your one of us now." Elmont said handing Jack the town symbol bravery metal all guards get.

"I'm- I'm honored." Jack said looking at the metal.

"Just come back for us okay?" Isabella said giving Elmont one last hug.

"I will now go." Elmont said

Jack pulled me and Isabella along and we started climbing down the bean stock.

It started to bet dark out and we where half way down the bean stock I was two branches down from Jack and Isabella.

"You know, for someone who's not wildly keen on heights... you're doing awfully well." Isabella said holding on to Jack.

"Yeah, I've been doin' a little trick Crawe taught me." Jack replied

"What's the trick?" Isabella asked.

"Picture something just ahead of you within arm's reach. Something that makes you happy." Jack replied.

"Sounds easy enough." Isabella said

"It really is." Jack said

"Cloister I never thought I'd miss it." Isabella said looking down at the little town.

"Isabella... before you go back to your world and I'm back in mine, you know, whatever happens from here, I just want you to know that I think-" Jack stopped talking and I looked up.

Isabella and Jack stood there kissing each other.

I smiled and went back to climbing down.

"Look at all those light, what are they doing?" Jack asked.

"They're waiting to welcome us home." Isabella said.

I looked down at the lights and got a bad feeling. What really was happening down there?
