Chapter Three

Elizabeth rushed off to first period, hoping she wouldn't be late. Elizabeth hurried up the stairs stumbling when her foot got caught on the top stair. She kept her balance and kept going. She rushed into the classroom just as the bell rang, earning her a glare from her algebra 2 trig teacher Mr. Griamore.

"A little earlier next time ms. Elizabeth." He reprimanded and Elizabeth nodded in apology before rushing to her seat. She sat down and took out her notebook. She tried to focus, really she did, but she found her thought drifting back to that morning.

'Meliodas? What an interesting name.' Elizabeth thought as she smiled at the blond haired boy. "Well thank you for your concern, but I really should get going now"

"Huh? Hold on a minute" Meliodas said grabbing her wrist as she turned to walk away.

"Kya!" Elizabeth shrieked as Meliodas's hand found her boob. "Uhh what are you doing?"

Meliodas didn't answer for a moment and squeezed her boob a few times. "Yep your heart rates just fine" he said in a calm tone before moving his hand away.

"Uhh... thank you?" Elizabeth murmured in a questioning tone.

"No problem. Well, see you around!" Meliodas shrugged as he walked away leaving the poor silver haired girl standing there in confusion.

"-izabeth? ELIZABETH!"

Elizabeth jerked up at attention at the sound of her name "y-yes?"

Griamore shot her a disapproving look "please pay attention in my class" he reprimanded and Elizabeth just nodded tentatively.

The next four classes went by without incident, however they were incredibly boring. Elizabeth sighed in relief when the bell rang signaling it was time for lunch. She headed towards the cafeteria and paused for a moment in the entrance. Sitting at their usual table was Vivian and the rest of her 'friends'. Elizabeth considered going over there and sitting down but she quickly dismissed the idea. Instead she walked to an empty table and sat down by herself. She opened her bag and got out her lunch along with the math homework Griamor had assigned.

Elizabeth dove into the work, concentrating so hard on figures and numbers she was startled when a lunch tray was slammed down in front of her.

"Yo" Meliodas's cheerful voice greeted as he sat down across from her.

"Umm hello" Elizabeth murmured and then tried to go back to her math homework. But she was having a hard time now that Meliodas had interrupted her focus. She sighed defeatedly and carefully put the homework back in her bag.

"So why are you sitting here all alone?" Meliodas suddenly asked making Elizabeth look up at him.

"Huh? Oh umm well maybe I like being alone" Elizabeth lied, she shouldn't drag a stranger into her friend issues.

"Mhm if you like being alone then why do you look so sad?" Meliodas asked skeptically, Elizabeth looked down at her lunch. "You don't have to tell me. But if you don't want to sit alone, I can sit with you"

"What?" Elizabeth asked softly "but wouldn't you rather sit with all your friends?"

"You are my friend" Meliodas said with a nonchalant shrug.

"We- we're friends?"

"Sure why not" Meliodas shrugged again as he dug into his lunch.

"But- but I don't even know you" Elizabeth murmured picking at her own food.

"Well then this will be an excellent opportunity to get to know me" Meliodas countered.

"But- but why?" Elizabeth stuttered "why do you want to get to know me?"

Meliodas paused and thought for a moment "you remind me of someone I used to know. So I'd like to get to know you just as well. That alright with you princess?"

"I- yes" Elizabeth nodded and then went back to her food.
