Chapter Two

The silver haired girl shifted her rather heavy backpack awkwardly onto her shoulders. It had only been a few days since learning of her best friend's true intentions, this would be the first time Elizabeth would see Vivian since that day. She still wasn't sure if she could do it or not.

"Margaret I'm off!" Elizabeth called back to her older sister who was preparing breakfast for the rest of the house.

"Okay have a good day Eli!" Margaret called back as Elizabeth exited the house she softly whispered "good luck" to herself.

Elizabeth stepped out into the early morning sun and couldn't help but smile. Although it was mid September, it still felt like July. As she walked to school she found herself getting lost in thought.

'What if I see Vivian today? What if she talks to me? What will I do? Could I just ignore her? And what am I going to do at lunch?'

So distracted by her thoughts, Elizabeth tripped over the curb of the school'a  driveway.

"Whoa!" She exclaimed in surprise as she fell forward only just managing to catch herself with her hands.

"You okay?" Asked a friendly, energetic voice. Elizabeth looked up at the person who belonged to said voice and smiled, picking herself up.

"Oh yes I'm alright thank you" she answered shyly, brushing off her skirt as she examined the boy in front of her. He was smaller than she was, with a crazy mop of yellow blond hair and the deepest emerald eyes. He had a smile that made her feel warm for the first time in these past few days. She couldn't help but smile back. "I umm i'm Elizabeth" she stuttered holding out her hand to shake his.

For a moment, something flashed in those emerald eyes. But then it was gone and he quickly took her hand and shook it "I'm Meliodas"
