Chapter 12

After reassuring Elizabeth that they would find everyone, Meliodas got to work. A quick google search of the symbol showed thousands of variations meaning different things and belonging to thousands of separate groups. But there was one that caught his eye, The Church of the Holy Knights. They were a more of a cult than a religion and supposedly they had many branches through out the country.

"Church of the Holy Knights huh?" Meliodas murmured out loud as Elizabeth peeked over his shoulder.

"Oh! I've heard of them, Gil's dad used to run it" Elizabeth exclaimed, Meliodas turned to look at her.

"Whose Gil?" He asked

"My sisters boyfriend! Maybe he can tell us where they could be hiding our friends and keeping my family" Elizabeth said excitedly.

Meliodas considered this and then nods a little "its worth a shot!" He agreed "and its also our only lead, do you know where he is?"

"Uh well... he is attending college in Bernia right now" Elizabeth says.

Meliodas smiles and reaches up and pats her head "good job Elizabeth, you found us our first lead!" He said cheerfully "now how are we gonna get there?"

Elizabeth's face fell "Well uh... huh... I never learned how to drive" she admitted.

"My license is suspended" Meliodas sighed "HAAAAWK!!" He yelled

"WHAAAT?"

"COME DOOOWN"

There was a sigh and then the thudding of feet on the stairs as Hawk came down. "What is it Meliodas? I have to finish packing" he scowled.

"Hawk, we need your mom to drive us to Bernia" Meliodas told him.

"Wait Hawk has a mom?" Elizabeth asked surprised.

"Of course" Meliodas shrugged nonchalantly.

"MAMA WE NEED YOU TO DRIVE US" Hawk shouted up the stairs.

"Okay Hun let me just grab my keys!" A feminine voice called back down. A moment later, a round, green haired, motherly looking lady came down the stairs. "Oh and who is this?" She asked smiling kindly at Elizabeth.

"I'm Elizabeth it's nice to meet you Ma'am" Elizabeth introduced reaching out to shake her hand only to be pulled into a friendly hug instead.

"Well aren't you just the politest little thing," She said letting go of Elizabeth "so kids where to?"

"We need to go the Bernia," Meliodas says.

"Bernia? Whats in Bernia? We aren't out if their Ale are we?" She asks looking over at Meliodas.

"No Ma'am a friend of mine is attending college there and we need his help" Elizabeth told her softly.

"Okay, then we better get going, Bernia is at least an hour away on a good day" Hawk's mom said, before going into the garage and starting the car. They climbed into the back seat and hit the road.

After about an hour of awkward attempts at conversation and staring out the window, they finally arrived at Bernia University.

"Aright you kids have fun! I'll be restocking while we're here!" Hawk's mom said as she dropped them off on the main campus.

"So what now?" Hawk asked as he yawned and stretched.

"Elizabeth do you know which dorm building he lives in?" Meliodas asked looking over at her.

"Umm..." she thought for a moment "I think it was Thunder Hall?" She answers sounding unsure.

"Okay, lets find a map!" Meliodas said, heading towards the student services building. They found a map of the campus inside then located Thunder Hall. "Do you know what room he is in?"

Elizabeth sighs and shakes her head "no" she admitted.

"Hmm well then I guess we'll just have to knock on every door until we find the right one" Meliodas says with a shrug.

"Thats insane" Hawk protested. "Why don't we just ask someone?"

"Good Idea Hawk!" Elizabeth smiled and walked over to one of the students lounging around "um excuse me?" She said "we're looking for Gil, do you know which room he is in?"

The student smiled a little at Elizabeth and then tilts their head to the side "hmm... I'm pretty sure Gil dropped out" they said after a moment.

"...what?" Elizabeth said in surprise "do you know where he is?"

"I don't know I overheard him saying something about 'The forest of White Dreams' and something about a holy knight?"

"The Forest of White Dreams?" Meliodas murmured "whats that?"

"Some stupid haunted forest a few miles out of town. They say everyone who goes in never comes back out" the student shrugged and walked away. Elizabeth and Meliodas glanced at each other in confusion, why would Gil go there? Unless... unless he did know something about where The Holy Knights are keeping Elizabeth's family. Maybe we went to save Margaret.

"Hawk call your mom, we're going to the Forest of White Dreams." Meliodas said.

Hawk sighs "I was afraid you were going to say that"
