After a really intense day at work like this one, Aleana usually took the whole day to relax. She had just worked for eight hours straight plus a meeting at her office that lasted another three hours, and hadn't even eaten anything. She picked up her phone and dialed Mara's number.
"Hey Stranger, what's up?" Mara answered after the second ring, Aleana shook her head smiling. She always called her stranger because of the fact that they didn't talk much but kept their friendship strong.
"Hey M, whatcha doing?" Aleana asked as she grazed over her wine collection, picking one up.
"I'm actually just looking over a project I'm currently doing. Don't tell anybody but, Victoria and David Beckham actually just bought a house in the area." Mara said smiling.
"What?! That's amazing that you have the project!" Aleana said. "I'm currently in my apartment, and I wanted to see if you wanted to come over to catch up."
"I really do want to catch up, I could maybe get there in like-"
"I already have wine in my glass and I'm making a cheese platter." Aleana interrupted knowing how much Mara loved wine.
"I'll be there in ten minutes, fifteen max." Mara said quickly and Ale laughed, she faintly heard Mara telling her assistant to clear whatever she had left to do for the day before hanging up.
"And then we had to tell my parents that we had also heard those noises and that it was probably the room in between ours at the hotel, but obviously it was us!" Mara said and both ladies laughed, being careful since they didn't want to spill their precious wine, which they already had drank 3/4 of. Mara was telling Ale of her most recent trip, she had gone to Morocco with her parents, her brother and Harry, her fiancé.
"God, I still remember when you met Harry. Seems like ages ago."
"Ale, it was ages ago." Mara said laughing looking down at her engagement ring. "The wedding seems to be so far away, I haven't even seen my dress since the fist fitting."
"M, your wedding seems ages away because you keep changing things. You settle on one thing but a few weeks later you change your mind." Aleana laughed, tilting her head back.
"Cheers to that." Mara said with a smile clinking their glasses. "So, are we going to talk about it?"
Aleana played coy. "Talk about what?"
"We've both been extremely busy, and we haven't talked about it. But we're here now, what's going on between Sergio and you?" Mara said looking Ale straight in the eyes.
"We, we went on a date the other day. And it was incredible." Aleana gushed, feeling butterflies in her stomach just talking about it. "We're leaving to Sevilla this Thursday, with the whole family."
Mara had the biggest smile on her face. "I am so happy for you, you deserve someone like that. How's the living situation?"
"Well, Sergio sleeps in the guest bedroom but most of the time he just ends up sleeping with me. And it's just, amazing. I love being with him, everything falls effortlessly into place when we're together." Aleana gushed as she thought of Sergio.
"You know I have to ask this, do you think he's the one?" Mara asked looking at Aleana seriously.
"You know he's always been the one Mara. I'm always happier, I'm always trying my best because he inspires me to do so, ever since what happened to my parents his family has taken me as his own. I just want to be with him forever. And that makes me sound like a psychopath because we're not even official." Aleana said laughing and shaking her head. "I think I'm already drunk."
"It is kind of late, but you're not drunk. Since I've met you, you do that. Spill out your feelings and blame them on the alcohol." Mara said smiling and standing up. "Is it fine if I leave my car downstairs and take an Uber? I'll have someone pick up the car in the morning, I just don't think I can drive like this."
"Yeah, it's fine. Tell Harry we need to have dinner, the four of us." Aleana smiled as Mara left her apartment. Just as the door closed, an unknown number called her phone.
"Hello?" Aleana asked, trying to calm her headache with something to eat other than cheese and wine.
"I'm sorry, is this Aleana Cuellar?"
"Yes, this is she." Ale replied with furrowed brows.
"It's Mario, we met today? Sara gave me your phone number. I was wondering if we could have lunch together tomorrow to talk about the plans I want for my apartment. I did mention I had a new apartment right?" Mario said, he hadn't stopped thinking about Aleana during the whole day and Sara's comment made him think that they could actually hit it off.
"Yes of course. I'm actually clear for tomorrow, just tell me a place and time and I'll be there." Aleana said looking over at her planner.
"El Club Allard at twelve thirty seems fine?" Mario said with a smile.
"Perfect, I'll see you there tomorrow." Aleana said with a confused tone. El Club Allard was one of the most expensive restaurants in Madrid and it was an unusual place for a meeting, but she went with it.
As she hung up, a tired looking Sergio walked through the door.
"I just want to order something that will get here fast and cuddle with you." Was the only thing Sergio said as he dragged Aleana to her bedroom, or as he liked to think of it, their shared bedroom. Aleana only nodded and gave Sergio a kiss on the forehead.
"I'll heat up some food, change and order. Just lay down and choose something to watch." she said with a smile.
