Soul's P.O.V
It was the day of the funeral and for Mom's sake; I dressed up for it properly. On the way down to the door, I ran into Wes. "I'm shocked you actually dressed up for it." I shrugged.
"It's for Mom, not him." Wes nodded.
"I know you want to get this over with, so let's hurry." I nodded and the two of us walked to the door in silence. There wasn't really anything to talk about with him. At the door, we found Mom waiting for us. The visitation was apparently the day before Wes came to Shibusen to tell me about Dad. I wonder what the people will think when they see me at the funeral. That thought almost made me want to just not go, but I'm going for Mom. I'll never understand why she still loved a guy like him but I'm not going to question her about it. We got into the limo that would take us to the funeral. I knew that as soon as I get out of the limo people were going to be talking. Man, this was so not cool. We finally arrived at the location of the funeral and just like I expected, people started whispering to each other as soon as I got out of the limo. I was the last one to get out, so that made it worse. But that's not what bothered me. I felt like there was something watching me. I looked around but I couldn't find it. Well this is going to be interesting. I thought as we all gathered under the green tent where they were going to bury my old man. I didn't feel sad about it one bit. I'm a little pissed that no one will know the kind of man he was but I suppose it's for the best. Besides, he can't do anything to me now. The priest started talking while people around me, including Mom, started to cry. I paid no attention to it as I looked around for the eyes that were staring at me.
It was getting annoying and I was starting to get worried. What if it's a pre-kishin getting ready to make its move and try to kill everyone there? I finally figured out where the stare was coming from and the next thing I know, a pre-kishin was running towards the tent. Man, I hate it when I'm right sometimes. No one but me noticed it. I got up quickly and ran out to stop it, not even thinking about what everyone would think. I wasn't going to let this thing hurt Mom or Wes. If it thought it was going to, it had another thing coming. The pre-kishin yelled, "I'M GOING TO EAT ALL YOUR SOULS!"
"You're gonna have to go through me first!" I yelled at it before I went in for the strike. I cut it but not enough to kill it. I jumped away before it could take a swipe at me. I could hear the people behind me gasp and scream at the sight of the pre-kishin.
"Oh? This is going to be fun." It murmured. I glared at it and went at it again. This lasted all of two minutes before I sliced it real good.
"Geez, what a pain." I muttered right before I ate the soul. So good... I thought closing my eyes. It's been awhile since Maka and I went out to fight pre-kishins.
"Soul?" I turned to see Mom, Wes, the priest, and everyone else staring at me; most of them in shock or disgust. I sighed.
"Sorry for interrupting, but that thing was going to try and eat your souls. Anyways, I need to report this to Lord Death, so please continue the funeral." I said walking back to the limo. I fogged up one of the windows and dialed 42-42-564.
"Hello, hello! Wassup!?" Lord Death greeted me. "Ah, Soul? Shouldn't you be at a funeral right now?"
"I am, a pre-kishin just attacked."
"Oh my, I assume you took care of it?"
"Yes, I collected the soul too, but I'm not sure if the pre-kishin is on your list or not."
"I see, please describe the pre-kishin to me." I nodded and began describing the annoying thing. "Ah, yes, he's on my list. No one had taken that job yet. Hm, well I can scratch that one off my list. Well then, I'll let you,"
