I made my way into Carlos and Jay's room, shutting the door quickly behind me. I almost had a run in with the press and I really did not feel like getting trampled with questions right now, not when I was too busy thinking about the date tonight.
My eyes flicked to the television where a news channel was showing footage of me walking across the school grounds earlier this morning. The announcer was talking about my outfit, a frilly purple dress that a "fan" of mine had sent me. It wasn't really my style, but I gotta keep the people of Auradon happy.
I rolled my eyes, turning off the tv with the flick of a button. I then took a deep breath in, my mind instantly flashing to the slimy yet satisfying streets of the Isle.
"You okay?" Carlos asked from where he sat on his bed with Dude.
I looked at him, taking a deep breath before shaking my head, "I don't even know."
He gave me a sympathetic look before standing up and walking closer to me, "Did you bring it?"
I nodded, pulling out a little bag that contained the item Carlos wanted. Mal had sent me to give it to him, while she sulked around the room, no doubt thinking about the letter from Uma.
I was about to hand it over when the door opened and Chad Charming came creeping in. I looked a Carlos, but he seemed just as confused as I was.
"Chad!" Carlos called, causing the other boy to jump out of his skin, "What are you doing?"
The boy smiled, trying to play it off, "I just came to use your 3D printer," He gestured to the large machine in the middle of the room, "It's just so much better than mine with all the hacks you installed and-"
"Is that a key?" I cut the boy off, looking at the golden key that had opened Carlos' room.
The De Vil boy crossed his arms while Dude growled, "How did you get a key to my room?"
Chad shrugged, "I printed it off last time I was here. You guys were sleeping." I had to bite back a chuckle causing Carlos to roll his eyes.
"Out!" The white haired boy called and Chad frowned turning to leave, "Chad!"
The prince turned around, an annoyed look on his face, "What?"
"Leave the key."
The two boys glared at each other for a few seconds before Chad gave in, placing the key on the desk, "Fine!" He yelled as he stomped out
I looked back at Carlos, shrugging off what had just happened, "Here," I held the gummy out to him, "Mal said to be really careful though because it is a truth gummy, you literally will say everything that comes to mind. No filter whatsoever. Are you sure you want that? Because if I said what I really was thinking I am pretty sure the whole of Auradon would come at me with torches and pitchforks."
Carlos only shrugged, "Yeah, no, I think I'm good."
I nodded, "Okay well-" The Dude jumped from the bed and ate the gummy right from my hand! "Dude!"
Carlos and I watched as Dude jumped back on the bed, "Man, that thing was nasty! What was in that?"
My jaw fell open, Dude was talking. The dog was talking!
Dude looked over at Carlos, "You just need to man up and ask Jane out."
I nodded causing Carlos to look over at me, "He does have a point."
Dude then looked at me, "And Hadey, Ben is always gonna love you. He literally does not stop talking about you. He loves you for you."
"I know that but he-" I cut myself off when I realized who or what I was talking to, "I am not getting advice from a dog."
I turned to Carlos, "Good luck, kid." Then turned on my heel and walked out.
I walked back in forth in my room, Mal watching me from her bed. What was I going to do for the date with Ben tonight? I didn't have anything ready!
"Could you stop pacing? You're making a dent in the floor." The blonde told me, making my shoot a glare at her .
I then sat down on my bed, facing Mal, "You're not worried about the whole Uma thing are you?" I asked the girl, "She's a punk, you know that. She's probably just trying to get under your skin."
Mal nodded, though she wasn't looking at me, "Yeah, I'm not worried. Kinda like how you shouldn't be worried about your date with Ben tonight, you'll be fine." She then reached over to her nightstand, holding out her spell book, "Especially with this."
I looked at the book carefully. I know Ben wouldn't like this, but I couldn't ruin date night. It was just a little white lie. That couldn't hurt him.
I slowly took the spell-book from Mal, a little magic never hurt anybody.
