Mal and I laughed together as we walked into the warehouse as we reminisced on the time when we had buried Uma in the sandbox.
"And then-then she cried! She actually started crying!" Mal pointed out, making us both laugh even harder.
I then looked up, surprised to see that Mal and I weren't the only ones in here.
We both stopped laughing as I dropped my bag to the floor at the sight of the rest of the gang, "Evie? Jay? Carlos? What are you guys doing here?"
They all traded a nervous glance with each other before Evie sighed, standing up from where she sat on the couch, looking at me, "Ben's been captured."
I held my breath. What? That couldn't be true. This was some kind of joke. Why would Ben even be here?
I scoffed, looking over at my friends, before trading a look with Mal, "Very funny." I chuckled dryly, sitting down on the bed. I looked up when no one else said anything, raising an eyebrow.
Jay stepped towards me, a hand on the table, "Uma has him."
My eyes focused on him, "You're not serious." Jay looked down at the ground.
Mal's eyes widened as she realized what was happening, she slammed her hand down on the table, "What the-"
Evie cut her girlfriend off, shaking her head, "But don't worry! We're gonna get him back!"
I blinked, this could not be happening!
"Why was Ben even here in the first place?" I looked around, everyone but Mal looked down, "Oh you didn't...you guys brought him here! To the Isle! Are you insane?"
Evie spoke up, "He was gonna come with or without us, we just wanted to keep him safe."
"Which we totally failed at!" Carlos pointed out, sitting down on the coach.
"Guys!" Jay shouted, successfully quieting them before looking at me and Mal, "Uma wants you two at the Chips shop, that's the only way we'll get Ben back."
I rolled my eyes, leaning my head against the stone wall, "Great. Now we have to go to Uma's."
"Wait." I looked over at Carlos as he spoke, "You guys are actually going?"
I looked over at Mal, who nodded, "If it's the only way to get Ben back, then yeah."
Mal looked over at Evie, "I've gotta talk to Uma about something else too. Why not catch two fish with one hook?"
I nodded at my best friend, pulling my bag back onto my shoulders.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're still gonna have to go through Harry and his sea rats." Carlos told us, I only shrugged.
Jay nodded from where he stood by the fridge, "Yeah you're gonna need us."
Mal only shook her head, "Uma said she only wanted Hadey and I."
Evie looked at her girlfriend, "Mal, come on." Mal only shrugged. Was there something going on between them?
"I know one thing," Carlos turned to Evie, before sitting down on the old couch, "I'm not going anywhere."
Jay looked over at us, "We'll be here when you get back."
I nodded at him, before walking out the door with Mal by my side.
"Hey, are you and Evie okay?" I asked the purple haired girl as we walked down the stairs from the warehouse.
Mal shrugged, kicking at the ground as the metal gate lowered behind us, "I have a feeling she's not very happy about me coming back without her."
