What'd Tom miss! (On Hold)

Chapter 2

We froze when we heard the doorbell. 

" I'm getting it, " Lin said, as I tried to exit the room. He left for a couple minutes when he said, " Em, can you come here please, "

I left the room to see my brother, sitting on the couch. He was grown up but he most definitely looked like Tom.

" Brother, " I say, a little coldly. 

" Emma, " His voice cracked. 

I walked to Dad, who put his arm around me, and whispered, " Go make sure that its your brother"

 I carefully took a step towards him and had to think quick. What is something that only Tom would know?

I decided to ask two questions just to be sure. " What was my mother's name?" 

" Helena, " He said, without a thought. " I would tell you stories about her, because you always thought that if she was here, you would have had a better life, "

" What day did you leave?" I say, my eyes beginning to well up again. 

" January 15th, the day that I made the worst decision of my life, " He spits out. I look towards Dad and nod, indicating that this was indeed my brother. 

" Welcome to our humble abode, Tom, " Dad shouted to him. I laughed and rolled my eyes. 

" Mr., may I take Emma out? We can catch up, " Tom suggested and Dad agreed while laughing. 

" Please, call me Lin. You're practically family now, " Dad says, before calling for Vanessa and Sebastian. 

" This is my Mom, Vanessa and my little brother, Sebastian, " I introduce them. 

" Hi, little buddy, " Tom waved to Sebastian who hid behind Mom. 

" Sebastian, come here, " I say, picking up my little brother. He buried his head into my shoulder, embarrassed. 

" Okay, well, Em, do you want to get going?" Tom said. Mom looked worried before he added, " I will bring her back. I don't want to steal her away from you guys"

" Okay, well, Em, take your phone, " Mom said, pointing to my room. I quickly get my phone before saying goodbye and leaving the apartment with Tom.
