buzz!
It took all of me and a little more to buzz the buzzer to Tom's apartment. But, I couldn't go back now.
" Ten dollars rig-" he starts and then closes his mouth when he sees me.
" You aren't allowed to be here," Tom said, closing his door.
I put my foot in it before saying " please, I have nowhere else to go"
" Okay hurry, get in" he says rushing me in.
" Thanks, Tom" I say before walking in. He offers me water and I accept as we sit on his couch and I tell him my story, start to finish.
He patiently listened, only interjecting if he didn't understand and wanted me to clarify.
But, once I was finished, all he said was," Go home"
" Why? No one wants me " I say defensively
" Obviously they want you. I mean they adopted you. That has to count for something. So I'm going to tell you something you are going to march your butt into your house and explain to your probably worried sick parents why you left. Talking helps because communication is key to any relationship"
" whatever" I say, even though I know he's right. So I start to head home.
