Anthony picks me up and takes me on a drive. We go to a spot that he said he used to go to when he was younger. A spot near a forest.
As we got there, he said, " So, you had to tell me something?"
I walk around, taking in the sight of the forest. " So, I got an envelope today," I start.
" Wow, so cool an envelope!" Anthony says, sarcastically.
I smile and continue," Shush! In it, was well, I'll just say it. Tom's trying to get custody of me"
Anthony looked shocked. He jumped to his feet and said, " He can't do that! You're over 18!"
" He's biologically my brother. And since, my father never legally signed over his rights, my brother gets them. " I say, smiling sadly.
" Well, don't worry. He won't win anything, custody, money or even visitation rights" Anthony says. He holds his arms out for a hug.
" Mom says we might have to go to court," I say, hugging him.
He kisses the top of my head and says, " No matter what happens, I love you,"
" I love you too" I whisper as we stand there in silence.
