It was 4:30 in the afternoon and Evan was bored. He had finished the little bits of homework assigned (mostly back to school forms) and was laying on his bed staring at his phone.
He was lonely and wanted to talk to someone, Connor's contact teasing him. Evan could text him at any time, but refrained from doing so.
What would we even talk about? He thought.
It would be so awkward to just text him up like "hey," so what was he supposed to do?
Evan groaned, rolling over on his bed. Why couldn't he just text him like a normal person?
Oh right. He wasn't exactly normal.
Then again, neither was Connor.
Evan sucked in a breath and tapped the texting icon on his phone, setting in Connor's name.
Just text him.
He shakily typed the message.
Evan: Hey Connor
Evan pressed send and immediately regretted it, every possible "what if" going through his head.
Suddenly Evan saw the read symbol appear under the text.
Shit. He saw it.
A new message popped up on his screen.
Connor: What's up?
Evan breathed a sigh of relief.
Evan: Nothing much, you?
Connor: Just chilling. I don't really have much else to do.
Evan scratched his head, trying to think of a way to continue the conversation.
Evan: What do you like to do?
Connor: A weird mix of shit.
Evan: ??
Connor: Well you know I like to read. And there's a few other things I enjoy
Evan: like?
Evan nervously sent that last text, hoping he wasn't being too pushy.
Connor: You'll judge me.
Evan: I promise I won't
Connor: I like writing. And art.
Evan: Really?
Connor: Yeah. But don't tell people or you'll ruin my aesthetic.
Evan actually laughed out loud. Enjoying himself, he replied to Connor.
Evan: Your aesthetic
Connor: Yeah.
Connor: Tall Dark and Angsty™
Evan laughed again
Evan: Haha yeah the tall dark and angsty boy who has read the entire Harry Potter series 6 times
Connor: ha
Connor: I was joking about the aesthetic. I hate it.
Evan: the way you look?
Connor: no...well, kind of. I mean, I hate that my appearance scares off other people.
Evan: oh
Connor: I know what you're thinking. It isn't all because of the way I look. People are scared of me because I'm an asshole
Evan: You aren't.
Connor: You don't know me
Evan: Well from the time I've talked to you, you've been extremely nice!
