Star had just finished packing a few more things into her big suitcase when her magic mirror buzzed. "Call from—Pony Head." She immediately dropped what she was doing and ran to answer the call. The familiar, floating face of her long-time BFF appeared on the screen. "What up, B-Fly?!"
Star breathed a sigh of relief. "Pony Head! Thank goodness! I've been waiting all day!" "Sorry 'bout that, gurl!", Pony Head said, in her usual loud, brass attitude. "I was in the middle of crashin' a mermaid party! You shoulda seen da looks on dere fa-ces! They gasped, and since they were all underwater, they all swallowed, like, a gallon of seawater! It was hi-lar-ri-ous!"
Pony Head looked back at Star. "So B-Fly, what choo call me 'bout?" Star sighed as she sat on the end of her bed. "Pony Head, its a disaster! Toffee's son has come to Mewni, and he wants to start another Mewnian-monster war!" Pony Head released a long, agonizing groan. "Oh, you got to be kiddin' me! You would think that by now, they would find SOME way to get along!"
Star placed her hands on her lap, staring at them as she twiddled her thumbs. "That's the problem. They have found a way." "They did?!", Pony Head said, sounding surprised. "Then why you so down, B-Fly?" Star shut her eyes tight, suppressing the tears. "Because it depends on me. The only way to cement the peace...is if Toffee's son and I get married."
"Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?"
Pony Head stared at her bug-eyed. "You mean you havta marry that To guy's kid?!" "Mom says I don't have to,", Star explained to her. "But if I don't, the monsters and the Mewnians will go to war anyway. That's why I called you. I know I can count on you to give me the truth, even when it hurts. I need your advice. What should I do?"
"B-Fly, you can't seriously be thinking about tying the knot with that guy!", Pony Head cried. "His dad tried to kill you! If you marry him, maybe he'll try to finish the job!" "But if I don't marry him, I'll be responsible for another monster war!", Star said. "This wedding could finally establish everlasting peace between them and us. Isn't that more important?"
"Soooo...you do want to marry him?", Pony Head asked. "Of course I don't!", Star screamed. "Why would I want to marry someone related to Toffee?!" Pony Head looked as confused as she really was. "Okay, so I say don't marry him, you say you don't wanna war. I say do marry him, and you say no way. Make up your mind, gurl!"
"I'm trying!", Star cried, falling back onto her bed. "But its so hard! I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place!" Pony Head chewed on her lower lip, thinking long and hard. Finally, she said to Star, "B-Fly, I'm gonna give you the best advice I can think of, in four lil' words." Star sat up, looking at Pony Head anxiously. The pink-haired pony princess spoke slowly and clearly, "Go. With. Your. Gut."
And with that, the mirror screen blacked out, leaving Star alone in her bedroom once more, pondering over Pony Head's words of wisdom.

The next morning, as Star came into the bathroom to shower and brush her teeth, she saw Marco, polishing his own pearly whites with his Love Sentence singing toothbrush. "It was no secret, the way that we feel! A love that's so strong, a love that's so real! You showed me your world, and it felt like a sign! But you acted too slow, and you ran outta ti-ii-immee!"
As Star got out her own LS singing toothbrush, she repeated the lyrics again in her head. The song that Marco's toothbrush played represented him and her, in a way. There had always been a certain spark between them, a spark that had been there since the day they first met. They had delighted in showing their respective worlds to one another. But Star had been too late in realizing her true feelings for Marco.
But was it still too late to act on those feelings? Star couldn't be sure. Sure, he was with Jackie now, and he seemed pretty happy, but there was still this certain chemistry between the two that Star just could not ignore, and she wondered if Marco noticed it, too.
"Star?" The sound of Marco's voice snapped her back to reality. "So, I was thinking, maybe next Saturday night, we could throw a huge party at my house,", Macro told her, washing his face, his gaze never leaving the mirror. "So we could all our friends before we go off to college. How's that sound?"
Star felt butterflies in her stomach. "Next Saturday?" As if the stress of deciding the fate of Mewni wasn't stressful enough, the last day to make her final choice fell on the exact same night before she and Marco were due to leave for college. She smiled at her best friend and nodded. "Sure! That sounds awesome!" And it did. Whether she chose marriage or college, Star knew that that party may be the last time she saw her friends for a long time.
