(Sadie's P.O.V)
The drive to my house was quiet and peaceful. Eric and I usually didn't talk to each other while he was driving because he liked to concentrate on the road. But this time, I had a feeling that the reason we weren't talking right now was because he was too busy day dreaming about a certain someone. His head was slightly turned so I couldn't see his face but I still could see a small glimpse of a smile frozen on his face. I stared out the window, pretending not to know who he was thinking about.
I couldn't help but smile to myself. I was really glad Eric was opening up to someone. He had always isolated himself from everyone and tried his hardest to make them not like him. So It was usually refreshing to see him get all giddy over a boy at school.
I think that It was good Eric was crushing on Noah and not some student who was judgemental. Eric seemed tough and stoic but he was actually really fragile. He had lost so many people In his life and had been hurt countless times. Noah was the type of person who would stick by Eric no matter what the consequences were and that was what Eric needed. Besides, Noah (from what I could tell) liked Eric as much as Eric liked him.
The best thing about Eric liking Noah was that Noah could see through Eric's act like I did. From what I could tell, he treated Eric liked a friend, never judged or assumed stuff about him.
Most people blindly judged Eric or just stayed away from him. Part of the reason why he isolated himself and acted the way he did was because he wanted to see which people would accept him for being who he was and If they could see his 'true self'
The main reason why he acted the way he did and isolated himself had to do with his past.
Before I knew It, we were at my house. He pulled into my driveway beside my mom's car and was about to turn off the car until he saw my mom from the window. She was taking grocery bags from the trunk of her car.
Eric unbuckled his seat belt and opened the driver's door.
"I only want to get the snacks.'' he said In one breath, practically leaping out of the car, closing the door behind him.
I shook my head at his lie and took his keys out of the ignition.
I saw him gently taking the groceries from my mom and grabbed the ones from the trunk holding as much as he could and walked to the front door.
This was the kind side of Eric that most people failed to see. He was really a caring person. He had always helped my family and I with housework, groceries and sometimes prepared dinner for us.
We didn't want him to do any housework but we understood that he was doing that to show appreciation for allowing him to stay at my house. Plus he considered us as family (although he wouldn't admitted it).
I got out of the car, grabbing my bag from the back seat and locked the car. I walked to the front door and my mom unlocked the front door and held it open for Eric and I.
''Thank you mom"
We walked inside and Eric took off his shoes and walked to the kitchen to set the groceries.
''Need help?" I asked when he got back his shoes to grab the rest of the groceries out of my mom's car.
"No thanks blondie."he said to me, gently brushing past me as he walked out the front door.
I bent down, untying my boots so I could take them off. After I neatly put them In the closet, my mom kissed my cheek.
"Hi baby. How was school?"
"It was good." I smiled at her as I unwrapped my scarf from my neck and took off my coat, hanging them both In the closet.
I saw Eric, who's hands were full of groceries through the screen door and I opened the door for him.
