And I fell asleep sitting by the door and the person in front of the door did too.
{ AMIR'S POV }
Light shone through the gigantic window marking the end of the dreadful night that had passed.
Today was the day. I would finally let Alizeh be free, free from me. I would tell her everything. The story that was left incomplete. The story of how I wanted to seek revenge from Haroon Malik but I failed.
I knocked on the door hoping she wasn't asleep.
"Alizeh, are you awake?"
And she opened the door. She didn't look like the scary Alizeh anymore. It seemed as though she was in immense pain, as if she cried all night, as if she got no sleep.
"Good morning", was all I said as she stepped backwards so I could come in.
{ ALIZEH'S POV }
"Alizeh are you awake?", a voice said waking me up.
I quickly got up realizing I slept beside the door last night. I made the bed look a little messy, so it wouldn't seem like I was crying all night.
But, little did I know that Amir knew how to read my eyes.
"Good morning", I said as I opened the door. I stepped backwards to let him come in.
"Alizeh, I need to tell you something", he said.
What now?
"Remember how you wanted to sort things out? Like why I was doing all this", he said.
And I recalled his story of his father being suspected to be a terrorist and being innocent but still killed.
"Umm yea", I replied.
"So who killed him?", I asked randomly trying to show enthusiasm. Little did I know how shocking the answer would be.
"My father- Jahangir Mirza was k-killed by H-", he paused.
What's with him and full names? And why was he stuttering so much? Weird.
"He was killed by your father, Haroon Malik"
His words struck me as odd. My father didn't kill no one.
"W-what! That's not true!", I said as I felt sudden anger in my voice.
"Yes Alizeh, he did. It's true. He knew he wasn't Aalim Abbasi, but he still killed him."
"And why would I believe you"
And he showed me newspaper that said "Marking the death of the monster: Aalim Abbasi, by the respected Haroon Malik" and googled: who killed Aalim Abbasi and it said Haroon Malik.
I was shocked.
"He would never kill someone if he knew he wasn't guilty, there must have been a misunderstanding, maybe that guy is Aalim Abbasi. Not your father", I said trying to defend my father.
"He is my father. I know very well how to distinguish between my father and a terrorist", he said.
He showed me pictures of himself and his father.
Baba, what have you done?
"But I am sure, he didn't know he was Jahangir Mirza. He thought he was Aalim Abbasi", I said feeling confident about my fathers honesty.
He would never just kill an innocent human being.
"I don't know", he screamed and then looked at me while I was frightened.
"Look sorry. My plan was to kill you and make him suffer. But I failed, I failed terribly", he said, "But maybe this is the best. It stopped me from repeating history. Repeating the mistake your father made. I would have killed you knowing you had no faults"
Tears started falling from his eyes. Never had I ever thought the arrogant snob, Amir Mirza, could cry.
"And today, I will set you free. Free from my trap", he said making me feel happy and sad at the same time,"Please forgive me for ruining your life"
I was clueless of what to say. I just felt free, even if I was still inside the mansion, I was free.
"Amir that's all fine. You didn't ruin my life", I paused, "I-I forgive you"
And just when I said I-I forgive you, he looked up and hugged me.
It felt as though he really needed someone to console him. He kept everything a secret and today he poured his heart out. He needed the hug.
With shaky hands, I hugged him back.
{ AMIR'S POV }
Her hands on my shoulders felt like as if the lie I once dreamt of was about to come true. But I knew that wouldn't ever happen.
I took my hands off her while she looked at me.
"Amir can you let me call Baba and Ammi please. I haven't heard their voice for a whole year. I miss them so much please let me-"I cutt her off by putting my index finger on her lips.
"Shh... You can call them", was all I said.
I knew very well, how badly one can miss their parents.
She called them but they never answered. Tears fell from her eyes.
"It's okay, call them again tomorrow", I said trying to console her.
