I grumbled as Kayla pinned my hair up into a wavy updo. She smiled and put her hands on my shoulder, looking at me through the mirror. "You look gorgeous."

"It's not a date! I'm getting to know my brother's friend, okay?" I stated, nervously smoothing out the black and blue dress I was wearing.

"Then why are you so nervous?" Sarah asked from her perch on my bed. She sat cross legged with her phone in her hands. Her green eyes were on me.

I shrugged. Anxiety was rushing through my veins like blood. I was nervous because I didn't know Steven and every time I met him, it was under weird circumstances. It has nothing to do with the fact this was a date. Because it wasn't a date!

"If you need us, call us, okay? We'll come right there." Kayla assured me with a friendly smile on her lips.

"Kayla knows about 100 different ways to castrate and decapitate someone." Sarah giggled. Kayla nodded in agreement with a smirk on her face.

"I'll be fine, but thanks." I smiled.

The doorbell rang, causing my blood pressure to sky rocket. Oh fuck, oh fuck. That was most likely Steven.

"Laz, your date is here!" John called from downstairs.

"Fuck you John! Be down in a minute!" I called, checking myself over one more time. I had to admit to myself, I looked pretty damn good.

"You need a boyfriend, sis! James was kind of a dick!" John shouted.

My mood went from anxious to depressed in seconds. James had been my boyfriend in college. He was amazing. Tall, dark curly hair, and the best personality. He was funny and sweet but he could be a bit of an angry dick at times. He never abused me in any way, but we did have our fights. He was perfect, but one day, he decided he was moving. That helped decide my fate in moving down here. Without James in Michigan with me, and college over with, I had nothing there for me.

I walked down the steps, forcing a smile. I was here to hang out with Steven, not sulk over ex boyfriends.

"Wow... You look absolutely beautiful." Steven smiled, looking me up and down with those dazzling emerald eyes.

I blushed and smiled a little. "You look amazing yourself, Steven."

"You know, you can call me Ze if you want." He smiled, linking arms with me and helping me to his car. It was a black Jeep Cherokee.

"Ze? Where did that come from?" I asked as I stepped into his car. It hadn't been my idea to dress up, nor his, but the girls, and Chilled, insisted that we both go to some Italian restaurant. I didn't like the idea, this dress was long but hard to walk in. At least it hid the fact I had flats on.

"It's a childhood nickname." He shrugged a she got into the car. He started the engine and turned to me. "Last chance to back out. You ready?"

I nodded with a smile. "Date or not, John's right. I can't be alone forever. I'm ready."

Ze nodded in agreement and smiled, turning back to the road. He pulled out of the driveway and drove down the road to the restaurant. Nervous butterflies filled my stomach, and I hummed "Stomach Tied In Knots" by Sleeping With Sirens to try and calm myself down.

When we reached our destination, Ze helped me out of the car like a gentleman and led me inside of the beautifully decorated place. Different photos and memorabilia of Italian history adorned the walls. It was a rather beautiful looking restaurant.

"So.... What made you decide to ask me.. erm, well, out?" I asked him as I took my seat. He sat across from me and I could see the redness in his cheeks.
