Zombie Infection

Chapter two

     Once we reached the city the dead grew in countless numbers, lucky for us a few miles back we had found a gun shop, but with no surprise most of the guns were gone though we stocked up on what we could get. Kelly had soon gotten sick once we left the school since then Sean had been carrying Kelly the rest of the way after that. Counting the hours it has been about nineteen hours since this hell had broken out though I was probably off on the time count.

    I had thought to myself about how I could kill someone else I didn't know, how could I point a gun a someone I didn’t know and pull the trigger . There they were again, a group of zombie bent over eating someone else, there screams could be heard from miles away. The sight of one zombie with his cheek gone and his leg missing while flesh hung off of it started crawling to us moaning as he got closer,  but as it did Sean shot it. How could he do it so easily? Pointing a gun to someone’s head that used to be alive and maybe even have a family, "Sean don't you think we should call it a night?" I said as I stopped walking “Your right, Come on this way," Sean pulled me along as we ran passed the dead and into a building, "We should be safe here for tonight,"

     It turned out the building was an apartment but knowing the walkers could pop out anytime I kept myself alerted. As we started to walk deeper into the building the walkers started to come out. As they came toward us i told Sean to take her to a room, "Sean find a room for Kelly, I’ll take care of them," i said pulling my gun out of my waistband aiming for their head, but then i thought if there was more i didn't want them to come down here as well. As i put back my gun i reached for my axe out of the bag as the zombies were sniffing out human flesh. Then what I saw next shook me to the core. A little girl and boy standing next to each other walking towards us, their faces half gone and eyes as cold as the ice in the winter and body grey as the gourd we walked on outside, a simple shock to give you nightmares for about a year. How could I kill them? How could I kill this little girl I thought to myself, "Katherine, kill them!" I heard Sean shout but i was lost in my thoughts, "Dam it Katherine!" I saw Sean Running up ahead of me shooting them like nothing, but for me it was something, it was as if they were somehow still alive to me, but to him they were nothing but dead people walking.

    As i watched Sean kill them one by one they fell to the around. I ran back to the room where i saw Sean run in with Kelly. As i sat down i heard a low mumble coming from the bathroom. I got my gun out of my waistband fast as i open the door. I saw a zombie bent over eating to what seem like a maid who worked here, "K...Katherine!" i heard Kelly's voice, "Get back!" I shouted as the zombie got up and stood there for a second. I gazed at me like I was something new to it, but the hunger lurked in its eyes. After a good three seconds it came sprinting after me, "Katherine!!!" I shot it before it could get out. I couldn't think, but as i let then gun fall down to the ground i started to feel weak, i killed him how could i have done this, "Katherine!" I heard Sean yelling i had just shot someone I didn't even know, how could I do this, "Kelly get me water please, Katherine listen to me you did good you had to or it would of killed you and Kelly. Look at me; it’s okay you don't have to do that again," Sean said as he held my face in his hands.

    As i stood up i saw Sean look at me with fear and worry in his eyes, this whole situation was drastic, how could this world just one day be all fine and then the next having people killing each other or just dead, "Sean, Kelly she's getting worse," I said looking at her, "It's okay i found some medicine for her, her fever should be going down," he said brushing the hair out her face. She was asleep yet again and Sean and i took watch through the night, but I must have fallen asleep once or twice because each time i woke up was to Sean fighting or shooting a zombie. Then day light came that's when i remember what had happen.

    I sat up seeing Sean watching the news, but it was nothing but videos and pictures on zombies and new born ones. The news wasn't helping me at all, "Sean..." i said slowly looking at him, "Sorry i just wanted to see if they had anything new on what’s happening," I nodded my head as i got up to see how Kelly was. As i walked to her bed she was still asleep and her fever had gone down maybe she would be okay. I looked out the window to see hardly any zombies walking around all you saw was the wind blowing making the trash dance along the road. It wasn't peace but it was something close to it,

    "Katherine, get your gun out!" Sean shouted, at that moment I knew all the zombies that were once outside must have gotten in. I ran to where Sean was and saw about 10 zombies walking to us, “Sean, wait what if the gun shots attract more then there already are?" I said as I took out my axe, "Your right," Sean said putting away his gun and taking out his axe, "Katherine, are you sure you can do this?" he asked me. I had to do this there wasn't any other way. We started to run to them swinging my axe into the heads slowly killing them sliding as Sean came from behind me bashing his axe into the head of a walker.

     "Katherine, Sean!" i heard Kelly little voice call out, "Kelly get back inside!" i shouted running to her but as i did more came from the hall on the other side, she stood frozen, "Kelly!" i ran as fast as i could pulling out my gun and dropping my axe. I shot them one by one and didn’t bother to stop I had to be sure Kelly was safe. As Sean and I fought it seem more of them came out and soon i was out of bullets, "Sean!" he was too busy fighting. As they came closer i started to kick them back, "Katherine!" for the one second i turned around a zombie jumped on top of me, "Katherine!" I heard Sean yelling. I thought it was end for me as i tried to get free but they were stronger than me. I never knew that a dead person could ever be this strong.

     As i was about to give up a gun shot came from in front of me and the zombie plopped down onto me. I pushed it off as Sean helped me up and then saw the other man standing in front of us, "Sean!" I heard Kelly scream as she came running to us both. I look at the guy who saved us he looked about to be Sean's age which is about  sixteen, "Thank you," I said slowly as I looked at him, "Your welcome, I’m Zack by the way," I knew I saw him before, Zack goes to the same school as us but is always in the Principal office. As he turned around i stopped him, "Do you want to come with us?" he shook his head and said, "I have someone i need to be with here," I nodded my head and let him go on as Sean picked up Kelly and took her back to the room.

   "We need to keep moving come on," Sean hissed "Sean wait we can’t just be walking all the time we need to find a car or something," i said grabbing his arm, "Your right it's safer anyway," he said as he smiled at me. As we packed our things i thought of what would happen if there was such a thing of a safe place anymore no doubt in my mind there isn't, but it would be nice if there was. Once we reached outside we saw the garage filled with cars and trucks. Once we found a car with the keys inside we put everything inside it wasn't anything big or nice but just enough to get us through the rest of week. As i put Kelly inside I gave her a water bottle and some food before i got in the front, "Where do we go from here?" I asked slowly looking at the zombies coming up the driveway, "Just keep moving, it’s all we can do," As Sean started the car one of the windows in the back broke as a zombie was reaching for Kelly, "Katherine!" Kelly cried out as it grabbed her i open my door and pulled out my gun from my waistband, "Kelly get down!" I yelled as I shot it in the head three more came from behind it, "Kelly stay down okay, Sean i need help!" I yelled out, "Already on it!" I heard him firing gun shots and knew there was more on the other side.

    The more we took down the more they came, "Sean, get Kelly out of here!" I cried out as i took out my axe hitting them on the head, “Katherine you know she won’t let me leave you behind and i won’t either!" I knew he was right but there were too many take down, "Fine, Sean get in the car and start it I’ll jump in when you do!" I shouted as I heard Sean close his door, I kept fighting, "Katherine, get in now!" I heard Sean shout as I took down the last zombie. As I got in I saw how many more were behind us, "Go, go!" I cried out. As i turned around i saw Kelly curled up in a ball crying.

    "Kelly, are you okay?" she nodded her head, she was crying again. I jumped in the back and held her as she whispered to me, "My mommy was back there Katherine i saw her she was one of them she dead!" she cried to me. I could feel her tears drying into my shirt and her little hands grabbing onto me. Her mother like them, did i kill her or was she still walking around back there? I thought of Kelly seeing her mom how could she be so strong i mean she was only a little girl.

  I didn't mean to kill her if i did i didn't even know that was her mom, but yet i still felt bad. We’ve all lost someone we all been through it but for Kelly to go through it, it may scar her for life if things do ever get better again.
