The grinding of the wheels on the track caused Rose's head to jerk up from her phone as another train came to a halt on Platform 6. John was rarely late if someone called for a case, but it seemed as if he was in no rush as she had been waiting for the last half hour for him to come in from wherever he was. People rushed in, pushing a bit past each other as the last passengers worked their way out. She let out a sigh and looked back down at her phone, the new cat collecting game she downloaded pulling her attention to collect all the furry creatures. Her phone vibrated with a little notification from John. Her nail clicked loudly against the screen as it pulled up her texts and straightened up as she read it.
John: Look up, Rosie
As she followed the instructions, she could see a familiar blond in a trench coat as he came towards her with a smirk as he put his phone back in one of the pockets. Rose tossed hers into her purse as she jogged over to meet her old friend with a smile. John Constantine opened his arms as she came crashing into him for a hug. He still smelled of cigarettes, incenses, and cheap booze as he wrapped his arms around her. "How are you doing, love?"
"Alright. How about you, John? Where's Chas and Zed? I've really missed seeing them." she asked as she took a step back, breaking the hug as they turned to the platform's exit.
"Chas is going to see Geraldine in her school play while Zed is taking time off to relax. The last case left them both knackered."
"I bet." Rose replied as they worked their way up the worn marble steps into the main lobby of Star City's train station. The last time she was in Starling City facing a boomerang wielding villain with Team Arrow and taking out multiple bombs. Now it had been renamed in her ex-boss' honor and another attack on her home city had shook it to its core. She couldn't help but hate the pattern that was seemingly growing into a much bigger terrorist problem each year. "Anyway, what's got you in Star City of all places? Cause the last time you were here, Carmen tried to deck you for hitting on Ben. And then he tried to hit you for hitting on her."
"You should have told me they were dating-"
"I did. Multiple times."
"And we're here to help an old friend of mine. Oliver Queen."
Rose grabbed at John's sleeve as the burst of cold fall air hit them as they went out the revolving doors to the brightly lit streets. "Oliver Queen?"
He nodded as he went to hail a taxi. "You've heard of him right?"
"I've worked with him." she replied, leaning in. "You know, as Hecate. Didn't I tell you about that?"
John shook his head as the yellow cab pulled up in front of them. He opened the door and motioned for Rose to go in first. She continued to question him as they got in. "Okay, well we have. Now how do you know him? Cause I'm at least 96% sure he doesn't go for men."
"He doesn't." John confirmed. "And it's a long story that I don't have time to explain."
"Then give me the Vine version. Cause I bet it is one hell of a story."
He let out a sigh as he gave the driver the address before he leaned back to tell another one of his amazing stories.
..............................
The taxi pulled up in front of a window lined brick building with the street lights providing the only illumination on the quiet street. This definitely wasn't anywhere near the Glades like where she had met Team Arrow the last time she was here. The building was dark on the inside, showing no signs of anyone staying late to do any sort of activity John or Oliver would get involved in.
