Sumedh's Pov
After 4 days,
I was packing my stuff in the room. Suddenly, someone opened the door with a jerk. I turned back my head and found Rohit. I passed a smile to him and continued my packing.

"Kaha ja rha hai ?" He asked in heavy voice.

"Bhool gya kya ? Kaal hume hostel khali karna hai. Aur, tu kyu khada hai ? Packing kar ja ke. Kaal subha subha nikalna hai." I said and took out my clothes from the cupboard.

"Tune mujhe btaya nhi ki, tujhe New York mein job mil gyi hai. Aur tu parso ja rha hai." He said sadly, but in rude tone.

"Vo, main btane wala tha, but documents aur Visa ke chakkar mein time nhi mila, aur btana bhool gya." I answered without looking at him.

He came towards me and repeated in high voice, "Tu parso New york ja rha hai. Aur itni badi baat tu mujhe btana bhool gya."

"Haan, dimaag se nikal gya tha. Sorry ! " I answered and closed the chain of my bag.

"Meri tarhaf dekh." He ordered while holding my shoulders. I slowly raised my gaze, looked at him and noticed that his eyes were wet and got red in colour. "Kyu ja rha hai ?"

"Kaisa sawaal hai ye ? Career ka lea ja rha hu, job mili hai." I answered and sat on the bed beside my bag.

"Dekh ye baat tujhe bhi ache se pta hai aur mujhe bhi ki, jis profile mein job lekar tu ja rha hai. Us profile mein tujhe India mein usse achi companies mil jayenggi." He said in low voice. "Aur, tujhe to khud bahar jakar kaam karna pasand nhi tha."

"Vo time alag tha. But, ab mujhe lagta hai ki mere career ka lea mujhe jana chahiye." I answered while looking at the ground.

My gaze fell on my hands, when I noticed a drop of tear on the back of the palm. I raised my head and looked at Rohit who started crying like a kid. My eyes got wet, but didn't cry. I lowered my lashes and looked at the ground.

"Hum dono 7th class se saath hai, saath mein school jana, tuition jana, sab saath mein karte the. Teacher dant kar agar ek ko class ke bahar nikal deti thi, to dusra bhi bahana bna kar aa jata tha. Tujhe yaad hai na, ki tujhe football khelna nhi aata tha. Islea tu rooz mujhe subha 5 bje jaga deta tha, taki main tujhe practice karwa sku. Sirf islea, taki 2 week ka lea school wale jab football tournament ka lea bahar jaye, to hum dono saath mein ja ske. Aur aaj itni badi baat, tere dimaag se kaise nikal sakti hai ?" He said in between his weep.

"Aur tune kya bola, career ka lea ja rha hai. Tujhe lagta hai main yakeen kar lungga ? Tenth mein mujhe padhna pasand nhi tha, tune din raat baith kar mujhe padhaya taki mere marks ache aa jaye aur main science le sku, because tujhe science leni thi. Twelfth mein tune padhaya taki hum dono iss college mein aa ske. Kyuki tu akele mumbai ke bahar nhi jana chata tha." He continued.

"Sumedh, bhai. Ek baar aur soch le. Reh payega hum sab ko chor ke ?" He asked at the end.

I couldn't control myself, stood up, hugged him tightly, and we started crying like a kid. He was right, I couldn't live without him. Because, he was not my friend, he was my brother.

"Tu project submit karne ka lea, wapas to aayega na ?" He asked without breaking the hug.

(Present time
In the flight)

Immediately, I switched off the laptop and kept in the bag when I heard the announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our descent, please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Thank you.”

I rested my arm on the armrest and said in my mind, "Nhi, Nhi Rohit. Maine us din jhoot bola tha. Main wapas nhi aane wala tha. Mujhe dubara wapas na aana pade, islea maine apna college project pehle hi submit kar diya tha. Agar main ye baat tujhe bta deta, to shayad tu mujhe rook leta. Aur mujh mein rukne ki himmat nhi thi."

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport. Local time is 1:00pm and the temperature is 25°." I heard the announcement.

I took my bag from the luggage area and walked towards the exit. I stopped at some distance, when my gaze fell on a place.

"Sir, main aapko bahut miss karunggi. Aap meri aur Rohit ki shadi mein to aayoge na ?" Ritika asked to me while breaking the hug and wiped her tears.

We were standing outside of the airport. Rohit and Ritika came to mumbai airport to say goodbye to me. I looked at her, but didn't utter a word, simply managed a nod with a smile. Then, I looked at Rohit, who was angrily standing at a corner and was staring at me.

"Rohit, ab gussa choro. Tum inko aaise gusse mein bye bologe ?" Ritika said to him.

He came towards me, hugged me and whispered, "Mujhe nhi pta ki tu kyu ja rha hai. But, itna zarur pta hai ki career iska reason nhi hai. Placement sir ka call aaya tha, unhone btaya ki tujhe usse bhi achi profile mein yhi par job offer huyi thi, but tune reject kar diya."

I broke the hug and looked at him. I gave a wide smile to them and said in low voice, "Tum dono humesha khush rehna aur ek dusre ko jyada tang mat karna."

I looked at Ritika and continued with a smile, "Mere dost ko jyada marna mat, boxing bag nhi hai vo. Aur agar koi teacher dante, to rona mat. Suna dena unko."

Then, I turned back and looked at my bags. But, immediately Rohit held my arm. I turned my head and looked at him. He eyes got wet and hugged me tightly.

"Bhai, mujhe teri bahut yaad aayegi." He said in low voice, while tightening the hug.

"Mujhe bhi." I said and broke the hug.

I picked up my bag and entered in the airport. After few seconds, I stopped and turned back. I noticed that Rohit and Ritika were waving bye to me. I smiled and waved back with wet eyes.

I noticed that Aai and Baba were standing at the same place, and was waving hand to me with a wide smile, where Rohit and Ritika stood few years ago.

I went to them, touched their feets and hugged them tightly. Aai kissed on my forehead and then, we left for the home.
