Flashback

"Now she pleading. She on the floor, she on the floor. Baby got her pleading. She on the floor, she on the floor."

I quietly sang to myself while I unpacked a few things and laid them out on the bed.

It was late, around 1 in the morning. Chris was in her room probably sleeping at this point.

I had the curtains shut but the light from the city still shined in my dark room. 

I sat on my bed facing the window and looking out.

I had been to New York before but never paid attention to how bright this city was, even at night. This would be the place I would call home for now.

I heard my door slowly creek open and I turned around to see Chrissy walking in.

"Hey. I thought you would be asleep by now." I smiled slightly.

"It's our first night in New York, I can't sleep." She laughed lightly while coming to sit by me.

I smiled sadly while looking at her. "I can't believe you left with me. I feel awful dragging you away from Toronto." I said honestly.

"Valerie don't feel bad, if it weren't for you I never would've gotten out of there. Thanks to you I can finally start a career of my own, and leave that poor, unhealthy lifestyle in the past. There's nothing for me left over there. You're here and all I need is my best friend." She smiled while wrapping her arm around my shoulders.

I smiled lightly at her but I knew she could see right through me.

"Val, it'll be fine. Remember how we talked about modeling? Have you considered doing that?" She asked trying to cheer me up.

"Yeah, yeah modeling. I kind of forgot about that." I said while looking back up and out of the window.

"Actually I was thinking of something!" She said while getting up and opening the curtains to the window, letting more light inside.

"We should change our names. You know the second Abel finds out where we are, he's going to come here. I know you don't want that." She said while sitting down next to me again.

"Change our names?"

"Yes, anything!"  She said excitedly making me laugh.

"There we go! There's that laugh!" She smiled while laughing herself.

"Well what's your fake name going to be?" I asked while lightly laughing.

"I don't know, I was thinking Jade." She said smiling.

"Jade." I repeated.

"You know what would be cute? If your name started with a J also!" She said making me laugh.

"Don't laugh, that would be cute! Like Jade and Jennifer? Or Jade and Jessica?" She said while laughing.

I laughed with her while rolling my eyes.

"Jackie." She said while making me look at her.

She smiled widely." Jade and Jackie."

"More like Jackie and Jade." I said while laughing which made her roll her eyes and laugh also.

"So Jackie?! Jackie what?!" She asked while rolling over the bed to stand up.

"I don't know." I said laughing." I'm going to finish unpacking though and then probably go to sleep." I said while getting up.

"Okay." She said before walking over to me and pulling me into a hug.

"Let's focus on now, not the past anymore." She said before looking at me again.

"You know I always got your back right?"

I nodded my head. "I always got yours too."

She smiled before saying goodnight and walking out.

"Val, try not to sing his music." She said while peaking her head in once more.

"You're right." I said smiling sadly before she gave me one more smile and walked out while shutting my door.

"She said it won't be long, before she falls out of love." I whispered quietly while shutting the curtains again.

"It won't be long, before she falls out of love."
