Chapter 9

The lands of grass smelled so pretty. The smell of spring and pollen suck into my nose like a vacuum. As I ride around in the worn-out carriage across the dusty road, I wipe my forehead of sweat. In the distance I see a long big Wooden sign that says:

welcome to tupelo, ms.

I feel satisfied but I didn't know I was going here. Half of my body and heart was trying to get there, but the other half was confused that I was in tupelo-in one of the carriage company carriages! My boss would kill me-literally- as the sun came up I heard a voice that said, "my name is Vernon." It was a deep voice then a higher woman voice said, "my name is Gladys" the voices stopped. when I heard a baby's cry, I stated to look around. The colors of the lands started to fade, the sun didn't shine anymore, the baby cries faded into the distance.

I heard a loud voice say, "Jim-jim-Jim wake up."

Then I began to fly, I flew up to the fading sun. My body was light and numb. My eyes became weary. I couldn't remember what my name was. The land faded away from my mind, as I still was flying. I flew into darkness and kept going till I floated mentally into my real body, then I woke up. I saw my pretty wife standing over my half asleep body.

"Jim-Jim-Jim wake up!" My wife said agian. Not realizing that my eyes were not enclosed anymore.

"Oh your awake." Said jane. "I made you breakfast." Smiling she moved over to her side of the bed. "Job is eating some eggs in the kitchen." She popped her nucleus. "But if you want bacon-I don't think we have bacon though, maybe toast? No don't have that either. Ok eggs." I had interrupted and said eggs were fine.

"I love you." I said kissing her on the lips.

"I have to go to the store late- oh sorry, love you too! Later so you need anything?" She said a little manic. She seemed a little tense.

"Are you ok?" I asked her sounding concerned.

"Yes! Why do you ask? Is there something wrong? Did I say something? Am I ok? Of course why? Am I looking tired? Why did you ask? Am I mean? Please tell me I didn't say something! Why do you ask?" She said super fast,

Like she had a large large coffee- but she hasn't! No coffee-but right now I could take some liquor!

"Just because you seem a little frantic." I said calming not trying to upset the beast

"FRANTIC?" She yelled but more like 'I'm crazy' yell more than like 'Im mad at you!' Yell

"Just a little. Did you take something."

"Maybe or maybe not- I might of gone to mrs. Roberts friends house and had a few drinks." She said happy.

"A few?"

"Maybe several."

"Several?" I say yelling.

"Ok maybe seven or eight" said jane.

"That's a lot of drinks!"

"You don't think I know that?" She said in a smart tone.

"Go to sleep!" I said pulling her done on the bed.

"Sweet kitty!" She said petting my head.

"I'm not a kitty."

"Sweet kitty, happy kitty!" She said laying her hands on my nose and pushed it down. "Honk!"

"You are so wasted." Said I

"I'm not spoiled!" She said, pointing her finger at me.

"Drunk" I said correcting her.

"Slam drunk!" She said raising her flappy arms up.

"Slam DUNK!" I said almost at a yell.

"Shut-up kitty!"

"I'm not a kitty!"

"Bath yourself!" She said. She took my hand and licked it and rubbed it on my hair. "Good kitty!"

"Meow" I said playing along with her little game.

"Goodnight" she said falling into her pillow.

"Oh-oh-ok ok" I said trying to get her up. there was a long pause of pure stress.

"She's drunk?" Job said at the foot of the very old bed.

"It seems true." I said itching my head awkwardly. I turned to Jane and took the cover and tucked her in. "Ok she's good, did you finish breakfast?"

"Oh no- I didn't eat that! I knew something was up." He said, while we both chuckled.

"Why don't you make some other food."

"I'm not that hungry anyway." Job said

"I had this weird dream....." Job looked curious and I continued. " i was in this road and the sign said I was in tupolo, Mississippi. then I heard a voice say that his name was Vernon. Then suddenly, I heard a woman's voice say that her name was Gladys. Then I heard a loud baby's cry. Then I began to descend to this bed, and jane was waking me up." I took the covers and squeeze the covers. "I want to know more! I couldn't make out the connection with the names and the baby-I just don't understand."

Job looked at me and stared and looked on his face like 'duh' then he started,"don't you see? The names, the baby. The parents-there having a baby."

"In tupelo!" I said realizing.

"Gladys is having a baby in tupolo, Mississippi!" Job said bringing this information to my eyes.

"Why am I having this dream?" I asked.

"I don't know, who knows. It's not real. You know it's not real, right?"

"No-I think there really is a baby in tupelo, Mississippi, with parents named: Vernon and Gladys." I looked at him. "I'm going-"

"Going where?" He asked. I pulled out a spare bandana out of the closet and put some pairs of clothes in the red cloth.

"Tupelo, Mississippi."

"You can't! You can't leave me alone!" Job said.

"I'm not you got jane."

"She's drunk!" Said job

"When she wakes up she will be a little hungover-but you'll be fine." I said tying the bandana shut.

"You can't go!" He paused, "your my only friend! We do everything Togather! YOUR MY DAD!" He yelled!

"I am. And your my son!"

"You can't go! It's just a stupid dream! It's not real! It's in your head!"

"No it's not! It's calling me there, it real!" I said trying to be calm.

"No it's not!"

"ITS REAL!" I screamed losing my temper. A vain in my neck was showing evidently.

"Go go then! Stop screaming!" Job said, "JUST GO!"

I shed a long tear-it went down to my cheek.

"I love you...." I said walking out of the door frame.

I paused and stopped. Then turned back waiting for the response.

"Erm..." Job started, "I l-"

Job stated to cry- "I love you...." Job finished.

With that I stormed out the door, slamming the wooden storm door behind me. Running as fast as I could to the carriage company like I did in my dream. I stole one of the carriages, and road of into the rising sun.
