Chapter 12
"Yes it's me." I said to mrs. Roberts.
"Oh my, my Jim. How are you?" She asked.
"Oh I'm great! Oh, so is job!"
"Oh how is my little guy?"
"He's good! He found a gal for him."
"Oh!" She said blushing "who?"
"A girl named Tracey." I said.
"He's liked her forever!"
"Do you still want to go on the carriage ride? Or do you want to come talk at my house and see job?"
"Let's go to your house." She said smiling, "I want to see my friend jane."
I help her down, she almost fell on me-so I almost died! I mean she's not the slimiest woman ever, but I'm not skinny either, heck-I'm fat!
"So how is jane?" She asked
"Great,still Buediful!" I said smiling.
"Oh Jim, you were always the most romantic man." She said, "I wish mr. Roberts was like that, oh you know Henry, he was pethedic!"
"Well...he did you know, hit you."
"Yes. And I still have the bruises." She said pointing to her legs and arms.
"Well it's over now." I said remembering on thanksgiving. The duel.
"Yep."
"Well here we are." I said pointing to the old house.
"Good." She said walking in the storm door.
job set there washing a gourd with soap. Mrs. Roberts turned to him and smiled. Then a tear fell down to her rosy cheeks.
"Job." She said. Job looked over and dropped the gourd.
"Mom-a!" He said jumping up so fast to hug her. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I was going to my house far from her and I was going on a carriage, when I saw Jim, and he asked me to come here."
"I missed you!" Job said hugging her once more.
"Me too." Job said.
Just then jane walked in the living room.
"Charlotte?" Jane asked. mrs. Roberts name was Charlotte.
"Jane!" Mrs. Roberts said.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, I was going to my house far from her and I was going on a carriage, when I saw Jim, and he asked me to come here."
"I missed you!" Jane said.
"no, I missed you!"
"ok...ok, we missed each-other we know." I said.
"so, mom- so after the fight between dad and you, what happened?" job asked.
"well, I went to my friends house. Ursula's of course. then I stayed there for mouths. then I found a cute little antic house (much like this really,) and I moved in there about 3 weeks ago, I love it! " she finished.
"well it seems that it all worked out for you!" Jane said. " would you like some tea?"
"yes please." charlotte said, " and I cant forget about a week ago Jane came to Ursula's house and had a few drinks."
" oh mom, it was more then a few." job said.
"ha-ha!- job, you know to much." Jane said.
"Speaking of you, job, what's this about Tracey?" Mrs.Roberts asked.
" oh its nothing, just, we went out on a date and we kind-of........" job trailed off.
"they kissed!" I said.
"job! my,my, you player!"
" mom it would be awesome if you didn't call me that!" job said to his mother.
" ill call you anything son, a-"
"Mrs. Roberts, please- stop there." I said.
Mrs. Roberts took the tea Jane had made, and sipped it.
"well we better head home, come on job." Mrs. Roberts said.
job stood still, " I want to stay here!' job said firmly.
"no, your coming with me!" charlotte said," your my son."
' Um if I may, we have been taking care of him for almost a year, and he even calls me mom." Jane interrupted.
" is this true? do you really call her mom?"
"yes, yes I do." job said.
"your coming with me!" she yelled.
"no! they are my parents, I may have your blood, but you are not my mother!" job said bravely.
"YOUR COMING WITH ME!" Mrs. Roberts screamed.
"stop causing these fights! there has been two fights in the last year and its been ridiculous! "
" these fights are not because of the victims!"
"you are the causer!" job yelled.
"JOB! GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE!"
"No." job said sharply.
"GO!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, "GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!"
I ran to Mrs. Roberts very fast. " you've already lost your husband, do you want to lose your son?"
she pushed me down very hard to the wood floor making something in my body pop.
"no, I don't want to lose anyone, and I won't!" Mrs. Roberts said,
I looked over and saw her pick job up and drag him across the floor and out the door.
"NO! NO! NO! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU MOMMY, I LOVE YOU DADDY! COME AND FIND ME! PLEASE! I LOVE YOU!" job screamed.
"WE WILL, WE WILL! I LOVE YOU JOB, I LOVE YOU!" I screamed!
"I LOVE YOU JOB, I LOVE YOU!" Jane screamed.
Jane fell to the floor with tears spreading her face, the brisk tears fell to her cheeks. her breath was loud and in heaps. she covered her face to hide her redness. she curled up into a ball on the floor and cried. today we have lost our son, that is the ultimate price. I curled up with her, and begin to cry exactly like her. with all the hope that has been shattered, and the happiness, a whole in my heart has been made. I want my son back. this truly is the great depression.
