Chapter 11

My right foot hit the cold wooden floor, and then my left foot hit the ground also. My back erected into the correct position and poped. Then I popped my fingers and walked. I went into the kitchen and got a gourd. I opened the screen door and pulled the water up on the wucket. I put the wooden gourd into the water until it filled up into the top. Then I took a good sip,and now I'm awake. I got on my overalls and put on my hat and gloves. Then i kissed jane and Job bye then I went out the door. I was ready for the first day of my old job.

I past the old school house on the way-and a few very old and run down houses like my own. The Great Depression brought sadness in the air,so much that you could feel the loneliness, the regret, the tears and starvation put into everybody's day at there job. Most every body in this day of age was umemployed. I was out of work for 2 years. Starting 1933 the stock market exsploded! Making a lot of people out of there jobs. This was not just facts it was truth. When I past an old house with a tire swing I thought of my mother. I went into an instant flash back in my thoughts.

"Mommy!" My young self said. Little me jumped into my mothers arms gracefully and laughed. I instantly smiled and my mother took me by the foot.

"I'm gonna eat your foot!" My mother said imitating that she was biting of my pinkie toe. "Come her little guy." She lead me over to a big rubber tire that my drunken father brought home one time from the dump. I climbed up the monstrous tire that was so big to my 6 year old self. My mother lifted me from the tire then set down and brought me back down in my super-man pose. I set in her lap as she spoke to me calming, peaceful words once read to her from her mother now to me. She spoke a lovely Story:

"Once upon a time, in a far off kingdom there was a king named Gabriel. His son for instance, let's say Jim. Jim was a very handsome prince,(like my son) but Jim faced a grave decision. His father king Gabriel brought three princes's for prince Jim to wedd. He had to pick between three girls, princess Katie, princess Lisa and princess jane. Who would you pick Jim?" My mother ask.

"Princess jane! The names pretty! I would pick her." I said making my decision.

"Well Jim did in fact pick princess jane, the fairest princess of them all! Then an evil witch cast a horrible curse on prince Jim, he had to pick either of the other princess's-"

She got cut off by little me yelling," NO! HE NEEDS JANE!"

"Shh, I'm not done it gets better. Then Jim refuses to pick the other two! He wants jane, his true love. The witch could not stand it! She demanded for him to pick either of the other women.

So the witch locked jane away in a cell where Jim could find her. Jim was so angry, that when he saw the witch next he killed her with a sword of his own fathers. He eventually found jane and broke the spell with true loves first kiss. Then they got married! And they all lived happily ever after. The End."

She finished her lovely story and looked at me and smiled, "my mother told me that tall tale. Isn't splendid?"

"Yes mommy, but-what is a tall tale?" Little me asked my adult mother.

"Well-a story that's not true. That didn't happen." She explained.

"So...magic doesn't excist?" I asked looking worried.

"Of course not! You think a witch or wizard can come out of nowhere and just cast a curse?"

"Well... Yeah, I thought it was all real. Everything. Witches, goblins,,ghost, wizards, warlocks, fairies, and the list goes on."
