Miles stepped off the elevator. He was, once again, on the floor of Chief Summers. He approached her office and before he could knock, she said, "Come in."

But...how did she even know he was there?

He must've walked in with a puzzled expression because she looked up from the paper she was writing on and said, "I'd been notified of your arrival and I also have a security camera outside just outside my door." Milles nodded slightly. "I'm sorry if you felt unsettled for a moment."

"It's okay," he said.

"Did you make any progress on the case?" she asked, continuing to write.

"Yes, actually. So far we know that we're definitely not dealing with bears or wolves. But we still have no idea what animal it is."

"And how did you come to that conclusion?"

"Antonio - the Anthropologist ran a few tests to determine whether the shape and space between the claws were related to that of bears and wolves. The results came back negative."

"What else?" She flipped a page and looked at him.

"Well, detectives Bryce and Kenan were helping me go through some files from the archives; we didn't get anything out of the set we'd finished. When I went through the remaining files at home, one of them really got my attention." He put the box of files on the floor and took out the file: CASE 28: Dorianne Hamilton (STILL OPEN). He opened the file and set it on the table.

"In this case, the report says "Dorianne Hamilton was killed and the claw marks that were observed-"

"This is where you get to the point, Trenton," Summers said, motioning her left hand as to hurry him up.

He skimmed through the document until he found what he was looking for. "Her neighbour, Eloise Jackson, told detectives about a folklore concerning 'Clawdens', mythical creatures she believed had come to terrorize the town." He closed the file and looked at Chief Summers. "Is there something you and the rest of this precinct aren't telling me?"

Summers pushed aside the paperwork and leaned back in her chair. "Why would we withhold information here? I mean, you are reading the case file that mentions these beings."

"I know that but why is everyone trying to make me believe that it wasn't these creatures who killed all those people?" he asked, waving his hands slightly.

"Because it's folklore!" she shouted. Kelly closed her eyes and took a breath. "Look, here at Grandville PD, and at any other precinct for that matter, we only deal with facts. You can't start a case based on fairytales."

Miles slammed his fists down on the table. "At Peskin PD, we are open to all possibilities, truth or not. It's better to investigate every story than to be biased."

"Are you accusing this precinct of picking what we want to use?"

A knock came from the door before he could give his response.

"I'm busy!" Kelly yelled.

The door flew open, revealing Landon and Dolph. They both walked in, fetching a body bag with splotches of blood.

"Chief, we've made a breakthrough," Dolph announced, leaning on her table and beaming at her.
