"Hey, Sis, let's play hide and seek," George suggested, running and plopping himself down on the sofa, next to her.

Rebecca was staring at her phone, still trying to get over the fact that Mike never called back or texted. "No."

"Come on, pleeeaaasssee?" he begged.

"I said no," she grimaced.

He sighed, "You're no fun."

"Well, I'm not having fun," Rebecca seethed, pushing her face in front of her brother's. "Now, stop being a pain in my ass!"

He pouted and his bottom lip started to tremble.

Rebecca's face softened, "Oh no, Georgie, I'm sorry," she said, pulling him in for a hug. "I didn't mean to yell. And I didn't mean what I said."

He sniffled.

"Alright, I'll play. Do you still want to?" she pulled away and looked him in the eye, his blue gaze like the bright blue sky.

He nodded and smiled.

"Okay, you go hide, and I'll count." Twenty seconds later, Rebecca called out, "Ready or not...here I come!"

The house was silent. The rain tapped lightly against the roof, the gray clouds in the sky cast a dark shadow that made the living room appear ominous, and thunder rolled quietly to complement the weather.

But Rebecca was a tough nut to crack. A little thunder and bad weather never kept her down.

She smirked as she approached the kitchen. "Are you in here?" She crept towards the cupboards lining the bottom of the sink and yanked each door open.

All she saw was a dripping pipe, and a bucket placed underneath it to avoid flooding. She wondered how a refurbished house could be lacking in the plumbing area?

Her brother was smart not to hide in there.

She closed the door and headed out the kitchen, towards the stairs. "I'm gonna find you," she said, making her way to the top.

A thudding noise came from her room. She frowned. George knew better than to hide in her room. She even posted a 'KEEP OUT' sign on her door.

She pushed her door open and observed the room. It appeared the same to her as she stepped inside. "George, are you in here? You know I don't like anyone in my room."

She got no response. Of course, George wouldn't answer. They were playing hide and seek!

She opened her closest without hesitation, but only clothes took up space in there. She parted them just in case he was hiding between them. Nothing.
